Very nice Hostel ! Confortable and Clean. The best is the localization. It is in the central area of the town and close of all the Budapest ruin pubs I want to go. I loved my stay in Budapest and this Hostel was the right one to be. Thank You !

2 months ago a group of 40 volunteers and myself took a weekend trip to Budapest. Finding accommodations for 40 people can be rather difficult, but when I connected with Mike (owner) he was extremely helpful...at first. He couldn't lodge our entire group but called around to find accommodations for the remainder who he couldn't house, and he set us... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the thumbs up hostel. Me and some friends stayed there for three nights while visiting Budapest. The owners, who were a very nice couple were extremely friendly and helpful on giving directions. Moreover, the place is in a great location just on walking distances from the center. The price was the cheapest we could... More

We stayed there two times for a day and a half. The owner is really nice, and will help you with advice how to get around the town.... The atmosphere really depends on what kind of people are there. there are two 10 bed rooms and one with 6, and one private rooms. the place is clean, and you can... More

I was at this hostel last year in transit but this time I had more time to hang around Budapest. I chose this hostel because of its relatively central location and the fact that I was within walking distance of the sights and the metro. There is a new owner this time, Mike, and he was very cool and welcoming.... More

Stayed at "Thumbs Up" with my class for 2 nights. It's 3 rooms in the hostel. large rooms with up to 5 bunkbeds in each room. So I would recomend staying there with some friends, unless you want to share with strangers. Which is ok since there are safes in the room. The reseption-man is very nice and tries to... More

There is no way I can say anything bad about this hostel. The owner and staff were extremely friendly, the beds were comfy, the lounge made me not want to leave! They showed me the best places to go, the best route to hit all of them and did it all with a smile. LOVED IT.

I was in transit in Budapest and didn't want to stay at an airport hotel since I was going to be in the city for about 15 hours. The Thumbs Up Hostel is an interesting place to stay. The room I stayed in looked nice and new, the lockers were directly across from my bed, and it had a great... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
