You simply must stay in this place if you are looking for incredible value with a fantastic, boho-artsy interior: proof that cheap does not have to be soul-less and decrepit. Nesting on the third floor of a majestic building in front of the National Museum is the Lavender Circus. Be prepared to be breathless from the staircase, and take a... More

I stayed at Lavender Circus during my InterRail trip in the summer. The location was great, we visited everywhere in the city by foot (though I am happy walking a lot). Despite our early arrival we were greeted with tea and a really useful introduction to the city. The lady provided us with fun maps and had highlighted all the... More

Once we had climbed the 108 steps to reception we enjoyed the hostel. We were pleased to be on the second floor, 30 less steps!! We had an ensuite room with our own kitchen, although the fridge didn't work, we were self sufficient. Our only negative was the road noise, as we were facing the street, luckily we had ear... More

We stayed at a new apartment, very comfortable, but with some problems with the boiler. We were offered different solutions until the problem was solved (they were quick) and finally offered a discount when we checked out. Really nice people working behind the counter and a really relaxed atmosphere in a perfect location to explore the city. The wifi works... More

This hostel is very unique, as I'm sure you know from reading the other reviews. It's located near all sites you'll want to see while in Budapest. It's also right next to the metro station that will take you to the Keleti train station, which we found very convenient. When we arrived, we were given a shot of palinka and... More

The staff is incredible. They helped us enormously finding transport via bus, train, etc. to Romania, not especially easy. My private room had a kitchen, shower, and the most adorable paintings on the walls. The only downside was the hostel has no elevator, being in a protected historical building, so be prepared for some stairs. Also, the rooms really need... More

This is the most amazing hostel we have ever stayed in. Apart from the unique furnishing and artistic details all around the place, the rooms are cozy, the staff is fantastic (they welcomed us with a glass of Hungarian wine and gave us some great tips on getting around Budapest, and they were always there to assist us with anything... the place offers good standard, central location and very peculiar interior design in an old building. the rating can be justified by the moderate to high price / quality e.g. holes in the sofa in the room or leaking boiler leaving the floor wet overnight, missing breakfast or lack of little soap/shampoo under the shower. on the very pro site... Having just returned from visiting 10 cities in Europe and staying at hostels in each, Lavender Circus stands head and shoulders above the rest. When we arrived we were greeted by an enthusiastic staff member, who first made us a cup of tea and then gave us a glass of wine and shots! She chatted to us for at least... More

The overwhelming plus of this hostel is its staff. On arrival we were welcomed with a shot and a glass of Hungarian wine but more importantly were invited to sit down with our host who spent over half an hour talking us through the city and annotating a map with the best places to drink, eat, and visit. We had... More
