Mathias Hostel offers a room with basic facilities, like attached bathroom, tables and cupboards to store things, but has no tea making facilities, no TV, no water, etc. Travellers arriving should take a taxi as it is a bit difficult to get there with public transport. Free Wi- Fi is offered. Beds and furniture is old. One of the room... More

We had a room reservation for mathias hostel during the time there was sziget festival going on last august 2014. When we finally arrive, in the middle of the night, the door was locked and there was a sign "sorry we are closed" in the main door. Umm, what? We ring the doorbell and get in and walk to the... The hostel is not very clean and the rooms are very simple. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. The wifi was not available at all times and we had to come to the lobby to use the same as the signal is not good. The only good thing about this place is that the staff is very friendly

They would look up train times and prices for me and explain bus numbers and how to get around town. They also sell snacks... More

The hostel is very cheap, so you can not expect too much. In addition to the holiday season serves as a dormitory. The advantage is its location close to the center next to Gellert Hill, the Pest side you can quickly get the bus number 8 There is free wifi Internet access, but in our room was poor coverage and... You know, I didn't have high expectations for a 20 E / night hostel in downtown Budapest, but this was just a nightmare. The sheets were more yellow than white, hair on the pillows, prison size rooms, you really can not fall asleep until the last one of your neighbors fells asleep > you can hear everything from the toilets...
