We booked this hotel based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and I must say that I am bemused at how good the ratings are. Sure, the house looks pretty and the rooms have some romantic qualities, but really, this is not in any way a top hotel. For me a hotel should fulfill a few basic requirements to even get... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Gerloczy. We had 2 attic rooms. They were spacious and comfortable. The only issue we had was that our kids room was pretty warm. For some reason the air conditioning was better in ours. The staff looked into the problem and provided a fan. When they showed us how to open the windows it... More

Fantastically located just steps outside the tourist center but firmly in a charming city neighborhood. Cafe was wonderful for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late night snack and drink. Room was comfortable, well appointed, and an enjoyable space. Included mini bar with on premises made treats was a bonus. Staff of hotel and especially the cafe were knowledgeable, accommodating, and... More

I had such a wonderful stay here at Gerloczy Rooms. It was above and beyond what I have expected. Beautiful room and lovely staff. It truly eminates the charm and welcoming spirit of Budapest. Also, the cafe downstairs was lovely and the breakfast included was always a lovely start to the day.

A charming boutique hotel in a very convenient location. The rooms are beautiful, a lovely old building very sympathetically renovated and furnished. Staff are extremely helpful and the rooms were very clean and quiet. The attached restaurant/café was extremely convenient with good food and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely and great value hotel in a great location - short walk from the river and close to 2 metro stations. We stayed in an attic room. It had lovely decor and was very clean. Although the air conditioning wasn't very good - attic rooms get pretty warm when it is hot outside. Breakfast was lovely in the hotel cafe/restaurant... More

Firstly - location. Perfect! Walking distance to most tourist places and five minutes to the main tube/tram central square. But also it's located in a pretty, triangular 'square' in the pedestrianised area with a large terrace under a huge shady tree. It's a relief to get away from the crowds, the noisy bars, cheap shops etc and retreat to your... More

Gerloczy offers charming rooms and staff are friendly and helpful. We loved our yummy breakfasts at the cafe and the varied choice offered something different each morning. The central location was in walking distance to everything and close to metro if needed. We also had a couple of dinners at the cafe and they were good value. We appreciated the... More

The location is just about perfect, ideal for walking to the river & near to the metro & tram. Room was lovely although we the air conditioning didn't really work despite someone looking at it & the shower always flooded the bathroom! We loved the free mini bar especially the homemade shortbread & cheesy biscuits. The €12 breakfast arrangement was... More

Overall we had a wonderful experience in this small charming hotel. It is perfectly located with many sights within walking distance. The cafe downstairs where we had a la carte breakfast each day was a delight and very reminiscent of Paris. We booked more than 6 months in advance and the booking site allowed us to reserve a room with... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
