Ryan and Ron are wonderful hosts (and their apartment is beautiful). They are very friendly and helpful, whether you want suggestions for where to visit or need help navigating the city. As a solo traveler they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. In addition, their apartment is super close to the metro (so you can take... More

We were greeted by great hosts who welcomed us to their home. We immediately felt like long time friends. The made sure that we had everything we needed and that we would feel right at home. We were given a tour of the home and immediately gave us an orientation of the city, our surrounding area and advise on our... More

We were fortunate to land here on our first visit to Budapest. Ryan and Ron were ideal hosts; they were gracious and very helpful when we had questions, but were not intrusive in the least. The rooms are large, clean, bright: everything others have been saying. The apartment is old school Pest- very authentic, which we loved, and nicely updated... More

A lovely, friendly place to stay with gracious hosts. They were very helpful and even got up to wave us goodbye (at a very ungodly hour!). We had the larger room which was very nice. The location was easy to get to from train station and a good point for getting around Budapest. Would definitely recommend.

Yup, Ryan James wrote Frommer's Budapest & the Best of Hungary. How amazing to stay with an expert on the city: from places to see, hidden treasures to find, Ruin Bars (the trendiest of restaurants), how things work here, etc! Ryan & Ron's home is so welcoming, on the fourth floor of an older building in a historical area WITH... More

I could not have asked for a better stay at BudaBab. The apartment was big, bright, clean, and cozy and I felt immediately at home. It was also in the perfect location and I was able to walk anywhere I wanted to go. The immediate neighborhood (the Jewish Quarter( is rich with bars, restaurants, cafes, and endearing book shops, and... More

We loved staying at Buda BandB. Ryan and Rob are the consummate hosts - generous and thoughtful. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and to help us to explore their beautiful city. The apartment is filled with interesting mementos from their own travels - each with its own story. We stayed in the larger... More

My friend and I recently stayed at the BudaBaB for 3 nights. Ron and Ryan were great hosts! They provided us with great suggestions on places to eat, the Budapest nightlife and sites to see. Even though the rooms are spacious and the high ceilings give things a "grand" feeling, the best things about BudaBaB are the location and the hosts (although the modern, and VERY roomy, shower also set it apart from most European accommodations). Rooms are clean and bright, but can be completely darkened with wooden slatted blinds. There was some street noise,... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
