We lucked out and were given the new stand-alone apartment down the hall--for only 40 euros total per night! Inside a gorgeous old building with 20-foot ceilings, we had a kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, dining nook and bedroom (1 double bed) all to ourselves. Home made hostel was the highlight of our InterRail trip through eastern Europe. It is within walking distance (even with heavy backpacks!) of the Keleti train station, or just a few metro stops from there. We loved the hostel . The staff were so helpful and friendly. The welcome was like staying at a friend's home. This is an awesome hostel, great environment and very friendly staff. Jimmy was such a pleasure to chat with while relaxing after a big day of sight seeing. I got back yesterday from Budapest and had an amazing time. Home-Made Hostel is a great place to stay. Home Made Hostel is hands down the best hostel I have ever stayed in. If you want to save money and stay in a hostel, this is the way to do it. I wish there were more hostels like this and I would stay in hostels even more. The location was central and felt very safe at the same time.... more

There are a number of good hostels in Budapest, and HOME MADE HOSTEL is one of them. The hostel is located near the Oktogon metro stop, and only a five minute walk from the Nyugati train station (one of three train stations in Budapest!).
