We opted for the group dorms at the hostel, which unfortunately meant bypassing the prison cells. Regardless, the hostel was incredibly bright and airy, in an amazingly cool area of town, and outfitted with friendly, helpful staff. The graffiti was initially a bit overwhelming (we arrived after midnight, not knowing what to expect), but turned out to be an incredible... More

I've stayed in hostel Celica with my friends during couple of days at the end of March 2014. This is a bit unusual hostel, because it is actually redecorated former jail. Hostel is situated in an "alternative" quarter of Ljubljana called Metelkova and it is very near city center (15 minutes walk) and bus and train station. Surroundings may look... More

We initially got a double room with two beds, and in order to lie in any of them one needed to climb some stairs. The beds were like at 2m high, which might be a problem for those having altitude sickness, like in our case. However, as soon as we saw the bedroom we had been given, we came back... More

The tastefully drawn art graffiti and interesting looking wall murals provide the best entrance to the famous Hostel Celica, which has gradually but surely become one of Ljubljana’s landmark and a true tourist attraction of its own. Hostel Celica is dressed in splashes of red, pink and purple – very vibrant colors synonymous with youth hostels all around the world,... More

Stay in double room with shared bathroom. The room is nicely design. Even though the size is quite small but comfy for two people. The place can be very loud. For us is not a problem because we are quite tired from the trip and just need a comfy nice bed to sleep. Honestly if you are looking for a place... More

Me and my friend were interrailing around europe for a month, and booked all our accom. before we left. Slovenia was towards the end of our trip and we had bumped into lots of people on our way who had already been and had absolutely raved about this hostel to us (as did the reviews online, hence why we booked... I stayed at Celica for 6 nights this month (june 2014) after a friend of mine who is from Ljubliana recommended it to me. The place is awesome and full of character. Everyone that I met in the staff was super nice and always willing to help out. The bar staff were also great and always pretty nice as well.... More

Converted from the jail of the former communist army and situated in the graffiti-covered art ghetto/student party zone compound, this hostel is one of the coolest I've stayed in with lots of nice touches like stair railings made of driftwood and a beautiful Indian-inspired sitting area. In addition, the staff were helpful, breakfast is a great value, and there were... More

We were a group of six men on motorbikes and had found the address on the internet. The place looked interesting and we booked three nights. Well, the rooms are a sight! The artists who designed them did an amazing job. But the cells are really cells - meaning there is almost no room in them. It was ok for... More

Clean and well located hostel - room is a cell with a raised double bed under which you walk around and store clothes etc - can be noisey early on but seems to be okay after midnight Bathroom down hallway and these had good water pressure and were clean Old town area less than a 10 minute walk away Staff...
