When we arrived at Hostel Celica, we found that we were paying more than we had expected for the night and also we had to give a 10euro deposit which we had not been told about. This was highly inconvenient as we had intended to use that cash for food. The woman at the desk was unhelpful and responded with... More

Unfortunately I thought the Celica hostel would be much better but in the end I was dissapointed with how small the room was. I know that it was a former prison but that does not really justify the small and short beds they have and the tiny bathroom :( also I was "upgraded" to a smaller dorm but I ended... More

Hostel Celica is an ex-prison renovated youth hostel. Once a prison, now a hostel made out of 20 prison cells. More than hundred years this building served as a military prison. Now it is a trendy youth hostel, one of the most special hostels in the world. Modern, trendy, full of artists and young travellers, musicians, nice people. Great staff,... More

The hostel is only a 5 minute walk away from the train station. We asked the info lady for directions, and her reply was "you'll see really rough buildings with loads of graffiti, then the hostel is right there". She wasn't wrong, the buildings surrounding it seriously looked like crack dens, and the people hanging out there look beyond dodgy.... More

This hostel is very cramped, I was in a room of 7. With 4 people in my side of the room, with barely enough space to move or put my stuff away. There is no where to put your luggage apart from the aisles. Also, this hostel in an area that is surrounded by junkies, so I did not feel... More

An old penitentiary completely renovated and transformed in an hostel with both dormitories and rooms (double and four people). Located at ten minutes walk from the city centre, combines nice atmosphere, cheap price and a good quality service. I stayed in a four people room at the last floor, although it was quite small the furniture had been arranged in... More

the hostel is good, we had a 'prison cell bunk room'. It was very hot and stuff in the room but for the cost it was fine. The location in the hippy camp is awesome it all gets going around 11pm with cool vibe and crazy music pumping out of some of the venues. Everyone is very friendly. Only a... More

Stayed one night in the three bed cell. The room is cramped for three people but the experience of staying in the cell room is worth the tight squeeze. The room is clean and surprisingly comfortable. Our room was over the kitchen/bar area so there was some noise, this wasn't a major issue for us! Great location: walking distance to... More

Before booking, I had read many positive reviews which really sold the Celica to me. We booked a cell... and it was very literally, a cell. I'm pretty we got the most basic cell. Having a sneaky look into the others I could see they really are amazing. Ours was two beds (fairly sure they were the actual beds prisoners... More

We opted for the group dorms at the hostel, which unfortunately meant bypassing the prison cells. Regardless, the hostel was incredibly bright and airy, in an amazingly cool area of town, and outfitted with friendly, helpful staff. The graffiti was initially a bit overwhelming (we arrived after midnight, not knowing what to expect), but turned out to be an incredible... More
