Came to the Hotel Polonia while Wroclaw was in the grip of a ferocious heat wave. Location of Hotel was good - midway between railway station and town centre. Everything in the hotel was tired, faded and nothing worked properly. Lift was worrying and somewhat eccentric. Breakfasts were inedible and the tea tasted like it had been stewing for weeks.... more

We stayed here even after hearing a bad review from a friend, but it was one of the few places that still had availability on New Years Eve 2008-2009. The rickety elevator up to our floor was the first bad sign. Entering our corridor, the building smelled poorly ventilated, and looked as if it was long overdue for a facelift.... more

The place is an embarrassment to Poland. The rooms are furnished with stuff i would expect to find in a bad museum. The aroma is unpleasant. It claims to have 3 stars but heaven knows why. In my room an electrical socket was hanging off with exposed wires, the bathroom sink tap was loose and at an interesting angle. It... more

Great location, only a few mins walk to the main square. Very reasonable rates. Large rooms & nice entrance hall. Decor in rooms was a little dated, but that tends to be the norm in many eastern european countries. Some noise from tram line during daytime. Some rooms available with balconies. Breakfast comprised breads, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, coffee and... more

What do some people expect. If you want luxury you pay for it. The Polania provides a roof over your head and basic comforts for a low price and its very very handy. The few staff I dealt with were friendly, spoke good English and ensured a fast and no fuss checkin. No porters at that price understandably. Old decor... more

Good points. 1. Great location. It's a 10 min walk to town. 2. Very helpful staff on reception. 3. Price Not so good points. 1. Generally a bit run down in need of a lick of paint. 2. One evening we had no water whatsoever. Overall a decent budget Hotel. If you are looking for luxury then this is not... more

22 of us on a football tour. On the 1st night a number of rooms were broken into and wallets, phones etc stolen. The intruder was confronted by a couple of guys who woke up. "I'm in the wrong room" he said! It is obviously an inside job because he knew which rooms housed the new arrivals. The City is... more

try and avoid this hotel if you can. the door to the room did not close tightly. ,the curtains did not block out the light at all, they were on a rod that was about 12 inches from the wall so one of the beds was partially on the other side of the curtains. the furniture was from the 50s... more

On arrival the hotel was just as expected, a little austere but sufficiently comfortable for 16 guys on a stag weekend. The reception staff spoke good English and processed our check-in efficiently. The rooms were comfortable though some had not been cleaned from the previous visitors. This was quickly resolved by the chamber staff. However, we experienced a major problem....... more

I gave this hotel 4/5 because it is an experience staying here in itself. If you are looking for charming staff and smiles, DONT stay. if you are looking for fluffy beds and room service, DONT stay. If you want a hotel that harks back to the Communist era and makes you feel like an extra in Gorky Park, book... more
