We took this hotel just for fun. Hotel Katowice was founded in 1965 and probably not too many things have changed since beginning. It is definately 2-star max but somehow I liked it -old atmosphere with orange and poisongreen walls etc.
Location is almost as perfect as it can be in Katowice.

Would recommend for one night stay, if you are not too picky and need some nostalgia. more

I have got to say I loved this hotel, but that was for personal reasons.
The hotel itself is terrible. Most of the wood (including the doors) is rotten. I would not recommend you stay here but then again if you choose to stay in Katowice you are crazy anyway and with that you get what you pay for. It is cheap. Granted it is close to Auschwitz, but so is Krakow which is a much better city with better hotels.
However if you want communist nostalgia, Hotel Katowice will be the place for you.
However terrible looking the hotel is the breakfast wasn't too bad and it was clean.
