We stayed at Hotel Sonata some years back. The rooms had just repentantly been refurbished, and they were still doing construction in the lobby, so no restaurant when we visited. The room was nice and clean, service was good, and the hotel is situated just at the edge of Old Town, making it in walking distance from everything you want... More

Good bits - quite decent inside, room was clean and a good size, reception staff were very helpful, breakfast was fine, located at the top end of Wenceslas Square. Bad bits - the hotel is located right by a major 4 way road junction with traffic lights, so the traffic noise in our room was terrible. Fortunately, we only stayed... More

My alias has nothing to do with this hotel but all to Embassy Hotel in Beirut. The room was allright though on street side a little noisy. Bathroom with a tub. Breakfast was OK, about the same every morning though. Coffee wasn't bad - ended for 10-15 minutes! The location of the hotel was quite good near the pub U... More

Stayed at another 4 star EA hotel before this one. This one was very disappointing No WiFi in room. No box of tissues. No smoking hotel, great but the lobby and stairwells smelled of smoke. Air conditioning didn't cool. No shower curtain or door hard to get in and out of tub/shower. Shampoo came in packets (like ketchup). This is not... More

I booked this hotel as a last minute secret hotel deal via Travelocity. I stayed for two nights and was happy about the price I paid, but it was advertised as four stars, but definitely not that caliber. Three stars at best. The room was clean and simple and fine for my quick trip. It's a close walk to the... More

Four star means excellent service and this was not the case. The desk clerk was not friendly, not even a smile at check in. WiFi was hit or miss. Although the breakfast buffet was very inclusive, the hot dishes, eggs and meat, were always cold. And twice during a four night stay, the bathroom towels were not completely replaced. Several... We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights on our mini moon...the staff had made the room up on request as a surprise putting a fruit basket, wine, chocolate, roses and rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed. The breakfast was nice although slightly random including cauliflower and rice, the staff were polite and friendly and... More

I read several reviews before staying in this hotel, so I had a good idea of what to expect. I had a good experience, and was especially pleased with the helpfulness of the staff. As mentioned, the location is very good. We came by train and walked to the hotel; it took only 10-15 minutes, and was quite easy to... More

Visited during the winter and liked it most for its good location. The standard room was big enough and comfy. Checkin requires 50$ deposit. Although it is located next to a busy street, the room was quite. Prices seem to have gone up significantly since the last two years. Overall good, but not my first choice anymore.

Lovely hotel in a great location. As you step out from the hotel turn left for I.P. Pavlova tram stop for the 22 tram to Charles Bridge. Turn right from the hotel and Wenceslas Square is a few minutes walk away. The hotel was lovely and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Wifi was excellent. All in all highly recommended.

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
