We originally booked this hotel last year on a non refundable deal for a trip we had to cancel at the last minute. The hotel offered to honour the booking if we were able to re-book within a year and then upgraded the room when our trip was shorter than originally planned. When we arrived they greeted us with a... More

I found this hotel by chance as I waslookingfor a place to stay for a work trip. It turned to be great in fact. The rooms are huge and clean, the ladies at the reception are very friendly and breakfast is ok. The location adds to the quality of the stay in this small and cosy hotel.

I can say only that our stay at Domus Balthasar was perfect under every aspect: the room was beautiful and romantic (we stayed in the attic), clean, confortable. The position was really great too: 30 mt from Charles Bridge (castle side). You can reach everything in minutes, walking. And speciale thanks to the personal of the hotel: they were kind,... More

Best location, practically right next to the Charles Bridge. The rooms were very nice, hostess was very helpful. The hotel lobby area and breakfast area is kind of small but our rooms were big. The best thing about the place was the amazing pancakes at breakfast!

We weren't sure if it was going to be a good idea to stay away from the city center but as Prague is so small we were actually in the center. The room was amazing, exactly as in the pictures, the staff was quite friendly wich can be unusual in Prague and the breakfast was in a bagel place (the... More

Dear Joana, thank you very much for sharing your kind review. It is nice to hear that our photos provided online correspond with the reality. :) We are sorry that you did not find the bed very comfortable but everybody has different preferencies about the hardness of the mattrace. So it is little difficult to find the best solution for... More

A bold statement, as of course it wont be for everyone. No pool, spa, gym etc. However if you want a small, well run, quiet hotel, right in the middle of all the tourist attractions, this is it. The rooms are large and well maintained. The staff, speak good English and are very attentive and helpful. There is a convenience... More

Domus Balthasar was excellent. We had a beautiful suite which comfortably accommodated our family for eight days. The location is great --there's a tram stop a block away, a subway station five blocks away, and Prague Castle, New Town and Old Town are easy to walk to. The staff will go out of their way to help with directions, reservations,... More

We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel which was booked in advance (sensible, because many other taxi drivers we encountered didn't know the hotel and we had to direct them with "Mala Strana McDonalds" which rather shatters the illusion of romantic medieval getaway). As the hotel advertises, there are no lifts - this is not a hotel... More

This is a wonderful little hotel (8 rooms/suites) with a welcoming and helpful staff, and a perfect location, just a few steps from the Charles Bridge but away from the hustle & bustle of the Old Town. We had one of the suites. It was spacious and comfortable although not luxurious. Breakfast was included at a bagel place accessible through... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
