This place is a piece of history. The uprising against communism began in the front yard at the German Embassy. The staff are wonderful. They started our stay with tea and coffee while giving us an overview of all the wonderful things to see in Prague. They gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. We got to know each of them and... More

We are a retired couple from Canada, travelling with a friend. We stayed at the family-run House at the Big Boot in Prague two separate times in April and May 2015. We found the carefully-chosen staff to be as warm and informative as any we have met in years. The house itself is totally comfortable, and a lovely heritage building,... More

We just stayed a 4-day weekend for May 1st at Big Boot. It's located on Mala Strana, West of the Charles Bridge. 5 minute walk to the bridge, and 20 minutes to most places in the historic district. They (and I) advice walking, and bring comfy shoes as you will be doing a whole lot of that. It's the only... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in March. The room was awesome, spacious, comfortable, with a modern bathroom. The breakfast was the best. The staff is wonderful. They are warm, friendly and willing to help. Our transportation to and from the airport was arranged by them. The neighborhood where this is located is very convenient for walking to many sites... I would plan my trip around the availability of rooms at this Bed & Breakfast. The family members and others at this Bed & Breakfast are extremely helpful and friendly. They made our trip to Prague a highlight of our European vacation. It's location is within walking distance of Prague's major landmarks/sites. They even arranged transportation from and to the... I must echo the comments of others about this lovely little hotel. A few different things- the location is great, easy walk to so many things or take the tram or subway. But it's also a real neighbourhood- an upmarket one with all the embassies, but fascinating to just wander around the streets and look at the buildings and wonder... More

This was a great place to stay from the moment we checked in. It's a family run Bed and Breakfast and it was wonderful. We arranged for transportation to and from the airport which made for an easy start. We were welcomed with an offer of tea or coffee and given a brief overview of lots of things to see... More

Perfect location, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, trusty wifi, great breakfast, and most important, the people who work there--they're what makes this a fantastic place to stay. Not just helpful, but they go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need. On our first morning there I took a cup of coffee up to my wife while she... More

We stayed in the House at the Big Boot for about a week in March. My sister found the hotel and booked it for us so I didn't know what to expect until we got there but we were impressed from the minute we walked in. Yahn (the owner) picked us up from the aiport and gave us a little... More

Obviously, most everyone has a similarly great experience at House at the Big Boot, but we like to think of it as just our secret place, something wonderful that we found and are reluctant to share for fear it will change. Simply put, I can't say enough about the warm and friendly staff, the awesome breakfasts, the beautiful, spacious room... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
