This was a nice place to stay, there was no elevator so having to go up 5 flights of stairs after walking around prague all day was a bit of a chore. They served a decent breakfast every morning, not as good as the places we stayed in salzburg or vienna. The restaurant was a great place to sit with... More

We were walking across the Charles Bridge toward the Little Quarter (Mala Strana) and heard music coming from the left side of the bridge just after the bridge reached land. We looked over the side and saw a man blowing bubbles for a young child who was happily breaking them. Just beyond, on the right, were outdoor tables and the... More

Notice we just eat in the restaurant. You can sit inside or outside. Located at an open space, we enjoyed eating the local cuisine ( the grilled duck is super). Plates are well filled and the service is ok. If you are lucky a jazz band is playing live music just in front of the pavement. Inside everything is very... More

We stayed two nights between Christmas and New Year. The hotel is quite small but the manager and restaurant staff were very friendly, which really makes a difference. We stayed on the third floor, and there is no lift, which wasn't a problem for us but would be something to consider if mobility was an issue. Na Kampe is next... More

This is the 2nd time we stayed at the Golden Scissors 12 years ago. We opted to be picked up at the train station this time which was better than trying to lug all our luggage and find our way, our driver would point out historical sites and was very friendly. We also opted to be taken to the airport... More

Small and friendly hotel that was in a good position for Charles Bridge. The hotel was quiet and clean, the breakfasts were basic but more than adequate for our needs. We found all of the staff to be courteous and helpful. Only one thing missing to make our stay 'excellent' was that we would have loved to have had tea... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
