Years ago we discovered that busy, tourist-filled Prague has a quieter side, across the river in Malá Strana - the city's 'rive gauche'. We've usually stayed at the Waldstein, next to the Czech Senate bldg and gardens. I only hesitate to give it the top ranking because one never knows when reserving what type of room you're getting. The best... More

This was the perfect location for a hotel in Prague. It's just over the Charles Bridge, so a short walk from the old city, but quiet at night. The local neighborhood (Maly Strana) is nice, with lots of good restaurants on the way up the hill to nearby Prague Castle. It's near a subway station and multiple tram lines, so... More

Hotel Waldstein was a terrific place to stay; a good value, great room, superb breakfast and super service. Gabriel in particular helped over and over again. The location is close to the center but not in a loud area. We had a suite with a view for a great value, worth every krona! Having worked in a hotel I am... More

Good service, good room, good breakfast, good price, good location near the metro. What I was especially impressed with was that my very polite porter declined my tip, staying "no it's my job". I think this shows honour and pride in the hotel that is very reassuring after reading a lot of horror stories about Prague.

Excellent location for exploring Prague (situated at the bottom of Prague castle and only 4 mins walking distance from Charles Bridge); all staff members are extremely helpful and friendly (thanks again to Marie, Renata and Vlasta as well as the lovely lady supervising the breakfast area), the house itself is an old palace and the rooms old-style giving the hotel... Hotel Waldstein is one of the best situated hotel in Mala Strana Prague. All sightseeing places are within walking distance from the hotel so no need for taxi service or public transportation. Mrs. Marie and Renata at the reception were very helpful and professional. Both ladies are knowledgable about Prague - so don't hesitate to ask. Breakfast buffet that Mrs.... More

Stayed here for 1 night only with 2 days tour in Prague. Nice little historical building, you feel like you are living in the 16th century. 10mins walk to the Charles Bridge and most of the attractions. Breakfast is very nice and a lot of choices, even with champaign!! The only downside will be the bed is not that comfy,... More

We spent 3 days at Waldstein Hotel. It's a nice ancient hotel in a strategic place. It's near the town center but it's outside noise, people, etc. In 5 minutes walking you can reach every interest place.

Great service, good location, good size rooms and clean!Could not fault it! We even got a complimentary wine in the room which is a nice touch! Breakfast was good! Waitress was friendly, always smiling! The airport taxi service arranged by the hotel was excellent! Nice big Mercedes rolled up and took us promptly to the airport. Would definitely stay here... Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
