Searching for St Thomas's beer hall as lauded in my out of date guidebook. Entered this stunning hotel and asked about it in the bar. He told us this was now closed but he offered to call the manager who could show us around. While waiting, he offered us a sip of the beer and it is excellent. Needless to... More

I stayed here on the 7th Jan for one week. My experience is rather mixed , some good points and some let downs. The building is wonderful its not very modern but the design and style is well matched. The room was also large but i found no control buttons to turn underfloor heating off which was extremely warm! Our... More

What a lovely hotel. The Augustine is centrally located in a centrally located neighborhood within walking distance of most sites- but because of its configuration, is wonderfully, quiet. In particular, the staff could be one of the most attentive and highly trained that I have experienced - even better than many highly touted luxury chains. I was not expecting this.... More

The hotel is just across the river on the castle-side, about two blocks from the Charles Bridge and one small block from the main tram stop on this side of the river. For me, the location was perfect. It was quiet enough to feel removed from the bustling crowd but so close that I felt part of the city. Really,... More

My family and I had a most memorable stay in this beautiful and extremely comfortable former monastery between river and Castle. Excellent service and outstanding food, accompanied by a beer brewed by monks exclusively for the Augustine. A truly superb hotel and an outstanding experience.

We stayed at The Augustine for seven nights over the New Year. During our stay every encounter we had with the staff was accompanied with a smile and a friendly hello (I know it sounds simple but it is something often missing and separates the very good hotels from the rest). Martin and Jan at the concierge were very helpful,... More

Our stay at the Augustine was simply magnificent, after the experience it is easy to see why it is considered one of the best hotels in Europe. Went with big expectations after have stayed at the Kempinski Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental during prior visits, but the hotel did not performed as expected. Service and attention to detail were close to nothing especial. The restaurant offered a mediocre meal when supposedly the " big chef from London" was visiting! 3 mights of hell at this so call... The wife and I arrived into Prague on Christmas day. We took a shuttle to the hotel, which was about 20 minutes from the hotel. The hotel also offers an option to use their private car for about 80 euros. Upon arrival, we were greeted by name, which was a very nice touch. Check in was very quick and the... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
