Svaty Jan is in a good location to see both the old and new parts of the city as it is sited close to both the metro and tram routes. The hotel - a former vicarage to the large church next door - is exceptionally clean, the staff are friendly and speak good english. Rooms are basic but comfortable (if you like firm beds!) and the beds are spacious. Breakfast is good, offering a wide choice of both english and continental food to which you just help yourself.

The only down side for us was the noise of the trams which run frequently most of the day and night. Once you have got used to this though it is fine.

We shall definitely stay at Svaty Jan again as it offers good value for money. Travellers shoud note that the hotel is situated on a hill, so not so good for anyone with mobility problems. more
