Stumbled across this wonderful place by chance during an internet search. Taken by the beautiful pictures and reasonable price - although not knowing the area, I booked for two nights over the bank holiday weekend for a girlie get away with my best friend. We were not disappointed at all. The house is stunning, filled with wonderful antiques and grand... More

We'd been really looking forward to our stay here based on other reviews. However, this B&B never managed to meet expectations. On a positive note the house is beautiful with lovely views. It has been decorated very tastefully although it wasn't the most comfortable room we'd ever stayed in. In fact we found the beds uncomfortable and didn't sleep very... More

So sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. I ask all my guests what they would like for breakfast, I am a little puzzled - you specifically asked for an uncooked breakfast (continental) the first morning and scrambled eggs on toast the second. I do indeed serve vegetarian alternatives to meat products. It upsets me to think you felt... More

have just enjoyed one night at thorny hall and could not fault anything. The setting is perfect. Our room over looking Middleham and beyond. Jan is a lovely hostess. The breakfast was huge, far too much for my self, but my partner managed to finish his! we would certainly recommend a stay here staying here.

We were in need of peace and quiet and time to relax. Having just returned from a weekend here that's certainly what we got. The double room at the corner of the house had the most beautiful view across the valley to Middleham and the large window complete with chairs was the perfect place to relax with a cup of... More

A wonderful home in the best part of the Yorkshire Dales, with views that won't be bettered. Super breakfasts provided by Jan, the delightful welcoming "lady of the house".3 days passed so quickly, we didn't want to leave.Hope to re-visit very soon.

My husband and I have just spent a lovely 3 days here in this wonderful house set in large grounds with gorgeous views from the bedroom windows. The full breakfast was delicious and more than ample. We had to ask her to reduce the portions for us!! It was a very hot three days and nights but nothing was too... More

Thank you for your kind review. You mentioned you had stayed previously in a corporate chain of country house hotels (Warner Holidays) and I do know they offer far more facilities and activities than we ever could. I am sorry about no fridge in the room but Thorney is our home. The three rooms we do offer for B&B we... More

My husband and I spent a long weekend at Thorney Hall for our first wedding anniversary. A private family home which Jan and Ian have opened for Bed & Breakfast, the house is immaculate. Set in lovely grounds with fantastic views across to Middleham Castle and village. Jan is the most excellent hostess, nothing is too much trouble and her... More

What a treat to be allowed to stay in this beautiful old house. Our room overlooked the valley and we could see Middleham Castle in the distance. The room had a TV with a collection ofDVD's t and loads of books. The owners were really helpfull and booked a taxi for us prior to our arrival to enable us to... More

We've just had a lovely weekend at Thorney Hall. The accommodation was beautiful and very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the whole place was very quiet and peaceful. The owners were very kind, friendly and thoughtful. We had a couple of lovely meals out at nearby pubs. Unfortunately the weather was very cold and wet so we didn't explore the... More
