We were made to feel extremely welcome at this quirky B&B, and provided with some much-needed tea and biscuits on arrival in a sitting-room packed to the gunwhales with a remarkably eclectic collection of much-loved 'objets' from all over the world. Our room was comfortable and cosy, with a spacious bath and shower-room, and the 'bespoke' breakfast in the conservatory... More

I absolutely loved my stay at Chalk and Cheese. It very much felt like I had stayed with family. I will definitely be staying again. The room was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and I absolutely loved getting a greeting from the furry residents each day! The building is very quirky as was the room, which I loved, the... Some diners refer to the restaurant as quirky, for me, like Marmite......Luv it or Hate it! Maybe Hate it is too harsh. Following a visit, I considered the restaurant over priced for pizza (and not as enjoyable) compared to the pizzas offered in the many chain restaurants. Okay may be these are cooked in the real pizza oven but I... More

I chose the Chalk and Cheese for accommodations for my first visit to England as it was in walking distance from the friends I had gone to visit and highly recommended. Bridget and Andrew are wonderful, welcoming, fun hosts, and I had a great time. You could spend hours looking at all of Bridget's interesting antiques and mementos. I fell... More

We stayed in this quirky hotel over Christmas. The building is a converted Victorian school and is beautiful and full of character. The lounge and bar area is cosy with an eclectic mix of all sorts of furniture and nic nacs! Our bedroom was clean and homely . The proprietors Andrew and Bridgette are very welcoming without being too in... More

My partner and I stayed on Friday 12 December, we found this little hideaway to be quirky fun and relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was lovely. We enjoyed a drinks by the log fire in the afternoon, and friends joined us for dinner in the evening. Andrew and Bridget were great... More

Very friendly bed and breakfast, Andrew and Bridget made me feel very welcome. Also ate lunch and dinner, good ploughmans and a couple of local pints for lunch and a very tasty pizza for supper. The English breakfast was very good too. I note a comment below about the temperature; this is an old characterful building, you can't have that... More

Went for meal to celebrate friends birthday. Bar and restaurant freezing gold. Out of four starters one was not available . Water served without ice. Unable to supply de-caffeinated coffee. Other coffees lukewarm. Finale was a small puppy entering the bar, uncontrolled, leaping up onto one of the guests, and laddering another guests tights. This seemed of no concern to... More

This place is amazing! Wonderful stay in their separate cottage, very quiet location (no phone signal at all) but is much needed if you need a break away from it all. Rooms are very cosy, and clean very uniquely decorated with Gorgeous bathroom!! The owners are lovely and the breakfast was very good. Only bad comment no hair dryer in... More
