I went a couple years ago and the place was so wonderful, the way the staff people treated me was amazing. They were polite and friendly always seeing if everything was in perfect conditions. The way the food is manage is pretty interesting, when I went they would ask you on the breakfast what did you wanted for dinner, this... More

Spent an entire week at Lapa Rios and would do it again in a hearbeat! The staff are wonderfully accommodating and the scenery cannot be beat. The rooms are comfortable, even without air conditioning, but it does get hot and quite soupy, so be prepared to sweat? (You are in a rainforest, so what do you expect!!?) Hiking is terrific... Dear Deborah, greetings from Lapa Rios and the Osa Peninsula. Thank you for reviewing us as an "extra special destination". As you pointed out in your review, it is all about the wildlife experience. National Geographic selected us as one of their few Unique Lodges because of our ongoing conservation efforts so that we can share this incredible biodiversity experience... More

Beautiful location, great facilities, stunning views, concentrated animal presence. Toucans visited us every evening to eat the berries in the trees by our balconey, awakened by howler monkeys singing every morning. Lovely pool situated to collect the breezes. They set up every trip we took-- using community zip lining company, community cowboys for horseback riding, community boatmen for the dolphin... More

We went to Lapa Rios to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and it was truly a wonderful gift. The staff were so friendly and greeted us warmly each and every encounter. The rooms were beautiful and offered your own private oasis amidst the grounds. Throughout our stay in Costa Rica, we never experienced as much wildlife as we did at... More

We stayed for 5 days at Lapa Rios and absolutely loved it! The hotel was beautiful and the staff was extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. Our priority was enjoying all the flora and fauna of the region and we were not disappointed at all. The amount of critters we saw on the hotel property itself was impressive - toucans, macaws, spider... More

Let me begin by saying, I am not really a "green" traveler. This may be a fantastic place, but by the time i was done schlepping from my room to the lodge five times a day, which was a long way, lots of steps, I was thoroughly hating the place. Lots of bugs and the howler monkeys! Don't get me... More

Lapa Rios is an experience! The rooms are very private with amazing views of the ocean and the forest. You have your own very private outdoor shower that was a fantastic way to start the day. The room itself was elegant and very clean. All of the hike are amazing especially the Oso hike where you go through primary rain... More

My husband and I visited the Lapa Rios Ecolodge for three nights January 20, 2015, the last of our three stops in Costa Rica. I have to admit that I had some trepidation, fearing that this would be too rustic for my tastes. Our experience began from the moment that we left our plane and arrived at the lodge office... More

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Lapa Rios and thoroughly enjoyed the lodge but we can't say enough about the staff. I managed to slice my foot pretty good while surfing and the employees helped to clean my wound. However, the manager Julieta went way beyond the call of duty and drove me the 45 minutes to Puerto Jimenez... More

Amazing views of the rainforest and ocean from this beautiful hotel, situated in a huge rainforest reserve. The room was spectacular -- I watched a family of spider monkeys and toucans eating from the trees off the deck. The guided tours of the forest are great -- can't possibly count the number of frogs, birds, monkeys, etc. The accommodation is... More
