Lapa Rios is paradise, not just because of the setting but also because of the staff, service, food, and guides. We sat on our deck watching the macaws and squirrel monkeys frolic. We took guided tours with the extremely knowledgeable nature guides. We ate fabulous meals served by extremely friendly wait staff in an extraordinary setting. The outdoor shower was... More

After 2 weeks travelling thru Costa Rica we went for 5 days to Lapa Rios. Yes, the one at 1000 places to visit before you die. We couldn’t believe our eyes; the environment is so naturally and luxury. The staff is o so friendly. We saw the animals more close than we did see them at other places of Costa... More

I can hardly begin to tell you how wonderful our time at Lapa Rios was. It is a lodge that has been carefully placed in the rain forest. We were awoken by the sounds of howler monkeys and macaws! We saw poison dart frogs and lizards, as well as swam in a waterfall! It is a raw wilderness and gave... More

We visited Lapa Rios towards the end of our Costa Rican vacation. I am glad we did, because it would have been difficult to top the experience. Our goals for the vacation were to unplug, relax, and immerse in nature. On all fronts, the Lapa Rios experience hit it out of the ballpark. Lapa is in a private 1000+ acre... More

We came to Lapa Rios near the end of October 2014 and stayed for 8 nights. We were met at the local airport, given cool drinks and a chance to say good-bye to the internet before departing for the remote lodge, a half hr drive along a pot holed mud track amid verdant pastures and misty vista's. Upon arrival the... More

Let me try and describe this magical area of southern Costa Rica. The Osa Peninsula is bursting with life, National Geographic says that it holds up to 5% of the world's biodiversity. 5% is a staggeringly high number for such a small concentrated area. Lapa Rios is set right on the southern tip of this incredible place. The level of... More

I was at Lapa Rios as part of a photography tour of Costa Rica and this location was by far our favorite. The level of service and accessibility to wildlife was beyond expectations. I would return in a heartbeat. And all that in an ecolodge was just icing on the cake. I highly recommend this location.

When our friends heard we were thinking about Costa Rica for our honeymoon, they said we absolutely had to go to Lapa Rios. We did a little research and found that Lapa Rios had everything we were looking for: a luxury eco-adventure in a pristine rainforest reserve teeming with wildlife. When we read that the resort did not offer television,... More

We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday last month with a five day visit to Lapa Rios. It surpassed all of our expectations -- from the flocks of rainbow-colored macaws that floated each morning below our cabin to the howler monkeys to the blue butterflies filling the roadways, the wildlife could not have been more spectacular. And you would expect that... More

To describe Lapa Rios as simply a hotel is probably doing it a disservice. It's an extraordinary experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world that I've ever visited. It's a complex of luxurious thatched cabins that sit above and amongst the rainforest and beaches of the Osa Peninsula. The first thing I saw as I walked... More
