Lapa Rios is a unique lodge and an experience one won't have in many other places. The food is wonderful, the staff stays one step ahead of each guest, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the outdoor showers are stimulating, the guides are very knowledgeable and the animals are ever present. If you are an outdoor enthusiast then Lapa Rios... More

The Osa is the most beutiful region of Costa Rica. The best part of this lodge is that you don't have to step foot out of it to see more animals than you would in an entire month in other more popular tourist areas (such as Guanacaste). You'll see all four types of monkeys that live in CR, toucans, macaws,... More

You can't really describe your stay at Lapa Rios the same way you describe any other vacation. Lapa Rios is more of an experience. An amazing and humbling experience. You are basically surrounded by wilderness and you are the guest. Everything is done to make sure you don't disturb the beautiful nature around you and this is so refreshing. I... More

At some point in everyone's life, with luck we have achieved some sort of epiphany about our existence, why we are on this planet, if we've made a difference, our purpose or at most, if we're destined to be a mere consumer for our brief lifespan. Imagine North America 200 years ago. No people, or actually just a few pockets... More

This is a great location if you want to feel close to nature while staying in comfortable accommodation. Our room was bright and airy, with a large balcony, and both indoor and outdoor showers. The bar and restaurant area has a relaxed feel and a fantastic view (with an additional viewing platform if you're in the mood for a climb).... More

I loved it here. It is right in the middle of the tropical rain forest but the food is excellent and the staff very helpful and chatty. Our room was amazing and very clean and completely non overlooked. We had an amazing view over the secondary rainforest over to the beach. There are beautiful birds and creatures all around you... It is impossible to exaggerate how special Lapa Rios is. Our famiiy group of 10 spent 5 days here, occupying 3 of the 16 bungalows and experiencing a range of the educational and recreational offerings (as well as merely chilling out at the pool or on the beach). Thus, we got a good feel for what Lapa Rios has to... More

Where do I start? From the moment we arrived at their office at Puerto Jiminez and were greeted by Vilma with coconut water and wet flannels to freshen up, to the drive along unpaved roads to the lodge, where we found a whole troupe of spider monkeys sprawled having a mid-morning sleep on the branches of an over-hanging tree, to... Lapa Rios is superb. Wonderful wildlife. Remote location Superb staff and a good restaurant and choice of meals Big choice of guided walks both day and night and ancillary activities. We had Bungalow 13 - 170 steps up and down to reception. If you have any walking difficulties essential to reserve a bungalow close to reception in advance. However the... More

We loved this place. We stayed for 6 nights and so had time to try out most of the activities and sitting by their beautiful pool area. Considering the logistics and the length of our stay we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and choice of food. Best of all though is the wildlife, whether on a guided walk... More
