My wife and I spent a week here with the objective of seeing some 'real' Costa Rican rainforest and wildlife in their natural environment (without fully knowing what exactly this meant). We were not disappointed. The wildlife we saw on the guided walks through Lapa Rios nature reserve - as well as viewed from the private deck of our bungalow... More

Dear Zachary, greetings from the Lapa Rios Rainforest and the Osa Peninsula. Thank you for your wonderful review. I think it makes it very clear for future guests that the Lapa Rios experience is about wildlife and the interpretation that our nature guides can provide every day. That is probably why we were selected to be one of very few... More

It was an adventure just to get to Lapa Rios; after the 12-seater-plane journey (greeted at the wonderfully desolate, tropical landing strip by Lapas staff with drinks) and a 30 minute, bone-rattling 4x4 to the resort, I already felt miles away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. The arrival was extra special with 'happy birthday' greetings and,... More

Amazing place...the views from the lodge...the room...the trails was fantastic. The staff was outstanding ! We did all of the guided trail hikes and found the guides to be very knowledegable. The food in the lodge was very good the the kitchen was very accomodating. Wild life was everywhere!! We will return to Lapa Rios!

My husband, 22-year-old son and I stayed here early last week for three nights. If you want to decompress and get off the grid, then this is the place. Aside from the rugged, pristine beauty of the Osa Peninsula, you have a luxurious eco resort that practices what it preaches. It is very environmentally and socially conscious. Out of the... More

Probably the best place I've ever stayed. This was the third stop on our honeymoon in Costa Rica. Our bungalow (number 9) had a private balcony with outdoor shower, looking out over the rainforest to the pacific ocean. Toucans sat in the trees that surrounded us and scarlet macaws flew past us every day, we even got an amazing view of... More

We stayed 4 nights at here at the end of May and it was outstanding. We had booked our 8 night vacation with Costa Rican Vacations (CRV) and I thoroughly recommend them because they had an excellent transfer service: whether it was a private ground transfer or small plane - they did it all so well. And it wasn't pricey... More

This place is fantastic! A once-in-a-lifetime experience. This facility is a thousand-acre private nature reserve. The comfortable bungalows (each quite private) are largely made from beautiful, locally-sourced teak. Being so remote, this is an all-inclusive facility. You get three meals a day (though the menu stayed the same during my five days), and the food is quite good. Feeling thirsty... More

Dear BigEasyTraveler, Greetings from the Osa Peninsula. Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review about your recent stay with us at Lapa Rios. A special thank you for pointing out all the green features of our lodge. We work very hard to find the perfect symbiosis of sustainability and luxury for our guests. We were... More

I can only endorse the many other positive reviews here. We stayed just three nights but wished we could stay longer. The Osa peninsula is definitely worth visiting and quite different in many ways from other parts of Costa Rica. We visited in May which is the start of the wet season. While the temperature was typically very comfortable, the... More

Truly in the jungle. If you want to see toucans, scarlet macaws, 4 kinds of monkeys and have great hiking trails along with really good food, this is the place. It isn't cheap though. The guides are wonderful and there are lots of choice of activities. You eat under a palapa with toucans, monkeys, macaws, parrots and other birds in... More

What a wonderful place, what a wonderful adventure. I cannot imagine a better place to experience the rain forest!! I just left and cannot wait to return. The lodge and rooms were gorgeous and the staff amazing. My family was completely taken care of, from the moment we arrived through our departure. It was an experience of a lifetime!
