Stayed at a few places in Costa Rica for a winter get away and ended at Lapa Rios. It was a lovely spot tucked into the hillside of Osa Peninsula. Getting there was made easy by the Lapa staff where you are greeted upon arrival at Puerta Jimenez airstrip. A short drive and two toed sloth viewing later I arrived... More

Lapa Rios was an amazing experience for me and my 5 person family. We stayed at Lapa Rios for a total of 4 1/2 days. Tge bungalows are not luxury, but are very fun. On the night we got there, we immediately saw a group of squirrel monkeys parading through the eco lodge. In the morning, we woke up to... More

Food was excellent. Our room was lovely, but located at the bottom of the resort, so it was a climb up to the main area. Had several great hikes and bird tours. Loved happy hour Spanish lessons. Make sure to pack extra sunscreen - the Costa Rica sun is hot! Traveled May 2008.

Just begin your adventure by the stunning view once you take the plane from San José to Puerto Jimenez. later on the land transfer from Puerto Jiménez to the lodge is another unforgetablle experience. Then, once you arrive there, you forget about everything and get connected directly with Nature. The lodge is surrounded by the rainforest with a breathtaking ocean... More

We loved our stay at Lapa Rios, because the lodge offers a good balance between activity and relaxation. The included activities each day are great - there is so much to do, and we absolutely loved the waterfall hike. The morning bird walk was also good, as was the night walk. We were surprised that the kids' rainforest hike was... More

This place is off the charts but on the course for Londoners, who comprised half the guests. Our 9 year old was fascinated by the wild monkeys and the English accents. Be prepared to walk. It was 179 steps from hut 12 to the dining area. We cut off 100 steps when we upgraded to hut 3, which had a... More

My husband and I stayed in bungalow 9 for a week. I think which bungalow you stay in makes a significant difference as it is my understanding that not all have ocean (gulf) view. I have nothing negative to say about Lapa Rios. It may not be for everyone because it is quiet and "unplugged" but Im sure anyone no... More

A stunning location with possibly the best customer service we've ever experienced. The staff are attentive, incredibly friendly and always go the extra mile. The guides are knowledgable and passionate about their stunning environment which made the walks extra special, thanks to Edwin and Jose! In our first few minutes on our jungle lodge terrace, scarlet macaws, toucans and squirrel... More

Yes, without any exaggeration, this is the most incredible hotel I have ever had the opportunity of visiting. Where to start? The rooms. Private, with outdoor showers and balconies with incredible views. We stayed there for two nights and on at least five occasions we had toucans perching right there on our balcony or monkeys stop in to visit. And... More

Lapa Rios is a unique and spectacularly situated eco-resort that manages to provide a luxurious vacation experience while adhering to its concept of minimally impacting the rain forest environment. From our first contact by phone with the friendly and efficient reservations manager, Henry Castro, we were impressed with the staff and level of service. The employees were numerous and always...
