Stayed three nights here on our ten day trip around Tasmania , only 10 - 15 minutes from Hobart and plenty of shops close by . Stayed in the deluxe double studio , good sized modern room and bathroom with a kitchenette , staff were friendly and helpful . Had one meal here and it was good. Would stay here... More

When our booked accommodation in Hobart did not pan out and the city was booked out, we were directed to the Southern Lights in Kingston. This is only about a 15 minute drive south of Hobart and is a great alternative if you can't get a room in the city or wish a cheaper alternative. Very nice rooms, clean, comfortable... More

My 11 year old daughter and I were down for basketball championships in early September so the hotel was very busy. We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe room at the front of the property so we had a pleasant view. The newer rooms are lovely and the kitchenette was handy for getting our own breakfast and lunch in... We dined here for the second time. The first time we ate here, we considered the food some of the nicest that we'd eaten. I think they may have a new chef as the food couldn't be any different. It was disappointing to say the least. We took some visitors with us and we were embarrassed as we'd told them... More

Disappointing. Very poor service. The food was slow, my steak was undercooked and the pepper sauce was so thin it was more like vinegar. Negligible options for vegetarian mains so we had to order two entrees. Went there because of the entertainment book and then they argued over accepting the voucher at the end due to entrees. Beware.

We stayed there on a Saturday night and was very impressed. We arrived around 10pm and the room had the heater put on for us, as it was cold. The room was clean and modern and very good for a family. We had a standard room that had 2 singles and 1 bunk. I would recoomend this Hotel.

We are regulars at the restaurant here. Highly Recommended. Fresh, quality food with something for everyone. We have all tried steak, seafood and pasta and enjoyed all of it. Good service, small but interesting selection of wines and decent fresh servings of food. We also enjoy desert!

We stayed here on January 3 and 4 in Room 30. Hobart was either booked out or outrageously expensive because of some boat race (!) and Taste of Tassie and we were simply marking time until we could find a home to rent to start our new life in Tasmania. I expected a lot more for $160 per night in... More

Thoroughly enjoyed two nights in deluxe twin room with fabulous view over Kingston and the Derwent Estuary, clean room with small, adequate kitchenette, with toaster, kettle, microwave, utensils, and frig, freezer.Beds were comfortable. Quiet location even though friendly staff warned that there may be noise from the highway to Huonville. Hired a car so 'out of town' location was no problem.... More

Room was only decent. Bed was clean. Cups were not clean. No bread toaster. No microwave. Garden bugs were in my room (i thought they were bed bugs). Shower is small area. Minimum facility. Wifi was given free but inaccessible from my room. You have to walk to the reception to get a better connection. The room has a modem... More
