First I will say that the customer service from the table/floor and bar staff was fantastic, the ladies that looked after our group and the customer service was faultless. "well done" Older gentleman when paying not so friendly or great customer service skills. But the food was a completely different story. HORRIBLE - If you going to charge for fine... More

Rooms were a good size & the bed comfy. Had all we needed in the room. Not all rooms have parking out the front, but close by. We had a couple of minor problems in the room which were attended to quickly. You feel you are a long way out of Hobart, but you aren't. there is a small shopping... More

Shane and the team run a very good Hotel, rooms are well maintained, the food is great especially Tuesday night when they have their famous "Spare Ribs" done with B'Bque sauce. This is a very generous helping so don't load up during the day. While Kingston is some 12+km from Hobart's CBD it is a quick motorway trip into town.... More

The rooms are tidy/clean, but that is where it stops., the thinking is a bit backward This is seriously like staying with your weird uncle who doesn't has not got passed the Great Depression. Loaded notes left all around the room leave you wondering whether this is a hotel or you are in a school boarding house You arrive with... More

Stayed three nights here on our ten day trip around Tasmania , only 10 - 15 minutes from Hobart and plenty of shops close by . Stayed in the deluxe double studio , good sized modern room and bathroom with a kitchenette , staff were friendly and helpful . Had one meal here and it was good. Would stay here... More

When our booked accommodation in Hobart did not pan out and the city was booked out, we were directed to the Southern Lights in Kingston. This is only about a 15 minute drive south of Hobart and is a great alternative if you can't get a room in the city or wish a cheaper alternative. Very nice rooms, clean, comfortable... More

My 11 year old daughter and I were down for basketball championships in early September so the hotel was very busy. We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe room at the front of the property so we had a pleasant view. The newer rooms are lovely and the kitchenette was handy for getting our own breakfast and lunch in... We dined here for the second time. The first time we ate here, we considered the food some of the nicest that we'd eaten. I think they may have a new chef as the food couldn't be any different. It was disappointing to say the least. We took some visitors with us and we were embarrassed as we'd told them... More

Disappointing. Very poor service. The food was slow, my steak was undercooked and the pepper sauce was so thin it was more like vinegar. Negligible options for vegetarian mains so we had to order two entrees. Went there because of the entertainment book and then they argued over accepting the voucher at the end due to entrees. Beware.

We stayed there on a Saturday night and was very impressed. We arrived around 10pm and the room had the heater put on for us, as it was cold. The room was clean and modern and very good for a family. We had a standard room that had 2 singles and 1 bunk. I would recoomend this Hotel.
