Stayed here 8 nights late December, premium price - Note in room advising of limited service??? Ample on site parking, bathroom door handle upside down, was disconcerting. Well equipped kitchen but definitely a one person space. Tip: Take binoculars for close ups of yachts & cruise ships heading into / out of Hobart. Move the table & chairs to open... More

The hotel rooms were big, clean and spacious. Bedding was comfortable. Showers were clean and spacious. Nothing wrong with the facilities just not value for money or ideal location. Cannot view southern lights as the hotel name suggests.

Had a problem with vehicle & needed to stay overnight. Booked in on spec and were delighted we did. Room was very spacious and inviting with a nice view of the Derwent. Popped into the dining room was surprised at the variety of meals and wine available. Food was great as was the service by both of the young ladies... More

We were a group of 23 special needs adults & carers, originally looking for central Hobart as a base for 3 nights. We needed walk in showers & a not too expensive hotel. The Southern Lights was a fantastic hotel that ticked all the boxes for us, without the high price tag & it was only 10 minutes out of... More

Have eaten here a few times for work dinners. As it stands I dont think I will go back any time soon. First time my fish was like rubber and Im not one to send food back but I did. Others were also not happy with food. But I will say the sweets were very nice. Its a shame as... More

Stayed here for three nights. We wanted a twin room and had a queen bed and double bunks!! Nevertheless the room was spacious and the facilities were good. It is a large motel which is spread out over a large area so the noise is minimal. The restaurant was acceptable, but is obviously popular with the locals as it was... More

Recently I attended a birthday event at this hotel. I ordered blue eye Trevalla with potato mash with a cream base, the fish arrived, I doubt it was Trevalla, as it was tough way over cooked, still had bones in it, and cold. One bite told me not to take another. My husband ordered chicken Parmigiana, it consisted of a... More

First I will say that the customer service from the table/floor and bar staff was fantastic, the ladies that looked after our group and the customer service was faultless. "well done" Older gentleman when paying not so friendly or great customer service skills. But the food was a completely different story. HORRIBLE - If you going to charge for fine... More

Rooms were a good size & the bed comfy. Had all we needed in the room. Not all rooms have parking out the front, but close by. We had a couple of minor problems in the room which were attended to quickly. You feel you are a long way out of Hobart, but you aren't. there is a small shopping... More
