I took three business visitors to the Anchor for a few pints and a meal. Everyone agreed that the food, drink, service and ambience were excellent. Proper pub food (not trying to be a restaurant!) and local ales, a simple recipe that works. We will be back.

Very nice pub with friendly staff which quickly filled up for luncheon; I'm glad we arrived early at 12:00. (This was a doubly good sign as you're unlikely to stumble across this pub by accident so most of the clientele must have been on a return visit). The food was excellent, in particular the turkey, leek and gammon pie served... More

My wife and I stayed at the Anchor Inn for 3 nights. Its a very good base for exploring Somerset and Devon. We were made to feel very welcome and at home by all the staff. There is a very homely feel about the place and you are treated like an old friend. The room was very nice and comfortable and... More

My husband and I stayed here last week for a reunion with a large group of friends (12 of us in all). It was a great location, just 10 minutes from the motorway, as we were travelling from all over the south west. The setting is lovely, out in the countryside. Very peaceful and pretty. The accommodation was very comfortable... More

Went with a party of eight on the recommendation of family and had a lovely evening. The food was lovely, not 'ping' food which is so often the norm' in pubs. Prices were fair for the quality. Service was good and all staff were friendly. I think that most of the rooms have been redocorated recently as it certainly seemed... More

Excellent motel style accommodation in a traditional country pub. A good range of food - the steak and kidney pie and full English breakfast are highly recommended. With a friendly conscientious landlord, and staff, the Anchor Inn is well located for visits to Taunton - particularly the Somerset County Records Office, and close enough to the M5 for visitors travelling... The office made a booking for us as we had some work to do in the area. What is booked can be hit and miss but in this instance it was a definate hit. The accomodation was pleasant, clean and a good size. We had an evening meal and both our choices were very enjoyable and the service was quick.... More

I stayed here while visiting my daughter, son-in-law and grandson this month. The family and staff at the Anchor could not have been more friendly. They really made me feel welcome, which I was very grateful for, as travelling on my own. They introduced me to some of the friendly locals, which made me feel very at home and able... More
