We(my wife and I) spent two weeks at the Refugio in Nov. 2012 and it was all that we could ask for and more. Scott is undoubtedly the finest Shaman we have had the privilege to witness. His passion for his life's work is apparent the moment you meet him and his knowledge of medicinal plants is second to none.... More

I traveled to Refugio, to have an opportunity to immerse myself in the amazon rainforest. I somewhat achieved my goal. I am thankful to Scott for devoting his time and money to protect part of this God-given treasure. He bought a chunk of land in the rainforest off-limits to the logging industry and the palm oil enterprises. As you probably... More

I knew I was in good hands following the fast and efficient booking process that I experienced in dealing with Refugio Altiplano, 24 hours before flying out from Australia. Being met at the Iquitos airport by an English speaking secretary put my mind at ease, as did the professional level of organisation and preparation for my arrival, and logistics in... More

I can't say enough about Refugio Altiplano and Peru in general.....It was an Amazing experience... I won't go on and on, enough to say that basically every review I read lived up to it's bold statements and high expectations. Hell, I stayed in an insanely beautiful 4 story tree house that overlooked the canopy of the Amazon.... Mind blowing! Day... More

Spending a week at the Refugio is a special experience. The jungle ambiance is like no other. The facilities were more elaborate than I had thought; the personal cabins were well built and comfortable. The staff were exceptional in providing meals, transportation, cleaning, and helping me with some travel arrangements. Scott provided me with an interesting book from his library... More

This time I've decided to go with my girlfriend. It was her first time in the jungle and working with La Madre Medicina. She had tough time moving about the healing process but after our first week she began to feel a sense of love, peace, and wonder she once felt when she was a child. It was a beautiful... More

My wife and I were planning our honeymoon to Peru and I really wanted an authentic ayahuasca experience to be part of it. We're both very spiritual people and I am a hypnotherapist who focuses on people's spiritual development, so I felt that I could learn from ayahuasca. After a lot of research Refugio Altiplano seemed like a perfect fit.... More

If you have decided to spend some time in the Peruvian forest by now you might be feeling as overwhelmed as I did when I started looking for “the” place. There are so many possibilities and most shelters look quite good… so why would you say yes to Refugio Altiplano? Because every single positive review you read in this web... More

I stayed at Refugio mid-February 2013. It has taken me a couple of months to even begin to wrap my head around all the gifts that came to me. The folks that work at this place are angels. Having Pamela pick me up at the airport was such a comfort and started my trip off on a high note. The... More
