We stayed in the Marina a few nights, John could not have been more helpful Facilities are great and a shuttle bus to Colon for provisioning are all well organized and very helpful. There wasn't a thing they couldn't help with There is a great bar/ restaurant and happy hour prices are very reasonable.

The Shelter Bay marina is a mile west of the seawall that marks the northern entrance to the Panama canal, near the former Ft. Sherman and across the bay from the city of Colon. Three of us spent four days here with a skipper who spent two weeks. Marina manager John Holly was particularly helpful in getting a reliable cab... More

We've been to Shelter Bay marina a bunch of times after visiting Gatun Locks with friends. We've also stayed there once for a weekend. Each time we've been delighted with the food, service and facilities. It's a hidden gem among a paucity of choice when visiting the locks, the expansion visitor centre or fort San Lorenzo further up the coast.

Always nice & helpful staff at Shelter Bay Marina and now additional/updated facilities since our 1st transit of the Panama Canal 4 years ago from the Pacific side. Now, my husband & I are with the World ARC's 40 boats going around the world & transiting to the Pacific and were so glad to find the following changes: remodeled &... More

Hopefully, the non-boat-going customer will consider this a thorough review. We found this place via TripAdvisor and thought the location a safe place to stay on the Atlantic Coast. The hotel does not have a reception desk, and the young man working the desk was distracted by other matters for the first 10 minutes I was there. I had a... More

Sailed from Houston to Shelter Bay. ARC was racing around the world, so it was crowded and busy. The Marina staff was helpful and quick to respond to requests for boat travelers. Really got nicer once the 40 boats and 250 crew members headed out thru the Panama Canal. Best shower facilities in the Caribbean! Did not go upstairs to... More

Shelter Bay is a fabulous hidden treasure! From March 2013 - July 2013 the managers and staff took care of my fellow colleagues and me to whatever extent we needed. The food at the restaurant was top-notch. The regular menu was fabulous, definitely the most filling gourmet food I've ever had. The daily specials were unique, well thought out and... More

Having had oru yacht on the hard for 18th months, we had no choice but to seek accomadation while we worked on her. Chris was the answer!! We were looked after like family and the chefs Marcia and Damian catered for all my needs due to the fact of my seafood fish allergy. Nothing was a problem for them. Bless... More

We arrived late at the marina after our canal transit and ready for a celebratory dinner. Chris, The Dock's manager, did yeoman’s work despite the short notice and arranged a special, full-course meal for us aboard. The grilled salad was the best I've had in years, the octopus was stunning and my wife raved about the chicken and shrimp entre.... More

Sailing from Tortola, BVI to Lima, Peru, we stayed here for five days waiting for clearance to transit the canal. I must say we were treated like family! The marina, hotel and restaurant/bar staff were top notch and took great care to ensure all of our needs were met and (most importantly) we stayed safe in an unfamiliar area. Customs... More
