Very cool bungalows on the Rio Dulce - pool, restaurant, and bar were all great. Taking a water taxi out to your accommodation was a really neat and unique experience to break up the standard hotel stay. The activities on offer were fun - I went kayaking and my friends opted for a horseback riding trip and we both enjoyed... More

This was certainly not our best experience and certainly the most expensive one (quality/price) in Guatemala so far. We arrived at the hotel and got a cabin around the docks, the location was nice. The bar of the restaurant as well and the cocktails are very good. Also the pool area is nice although we didnt use it since it... More

The only way to arrive at the hotel is via boat. Unfortunately no assistance is offered when getting off the boat to reception. The pier is wet and slippery, with steps and no railing making it hard to transport luggage to reception (especially when you've been travelling for some time - have two suitcases, a backpack and a handbag. The... More

We had a very relaxed stay in Tijax, perfect location on the water, nice pool, delicious food, friendly service. The cabin we had had a private bathroom, which was actually the only negative thing, because the bathroom had only a shower curtain as door and no roof, so privacy was a hard thing to find. For the rest, perfect!

I really enjoyed my stay here, the surroundings were beautiful. The highlight for me was a yoga trip that we opted to do with the lodge which took us on a hike through the forest to a tower on top of a hill with stunning views which was the location for the yoga class. Lucy the instructor was lovely and... More

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a group and ended up with a large family cabin with 2 rooms each to sleep 3 and a downstairs with 2 bathroom/toilets and kitchenette dining area. We did not have air-con and although the mosquito sheet was great it did make sleeping warm, they provided a fan but this did... More

Very attractive jungle/river setting. We were travelling by car and this is one of the few places with secure free parking. It is quite a long walk from the car park over bridges and boardwalks to the cabins, however the staff were very helpful in carrying luggage for us. It was quite hot when we were there and the airconditioning... More

We stayed there for a few nights. They have a few river front cabins which you want to grab if you can. This place is geared towards groups which visit some nearby waterfall, and sometimes Livingston on boat. While you are there, they have some walking options and horse riding too. My disappointment came as for value for money as... More

A lovely, unique place to stay - I had a lovely waterfront cabin all to myself, with a comfy bed, and patio doors overlooking the water. The huts are accessed by wooden walkways over the water with a central bar area and a separate restaurant. You have to take a boat across to the island. The only bad point is... More

This was our second stay at the Tijax and, like last year, we loved it. It feels like a home away from home. A great place to relax and enjoy the waterfront bar/restaurant, or use it as a base for exploring the lake and river. We stayed three nights this year and we not ready to leave. Really good food,...
