Lucy's guided hike through the jungle and rubber plantation behind the lodge is not to be missed! The trail, rope bridges, and lookout tower are wonderfully engineered. Then there's nature and wildlife. And a beautiful swimming hole about midway. Again. Don't miss.

Spending 7 nights here...a sweet A-frame cabin, not too close to others. Finally, after the last 2 places we have been, HOT water showers! Very good housekeeping services, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and sweet. I took a long hike (2 hours 15 minutes) on the property with guide Lucy - she was informative about the plants, trees, and... More

Individual Lodges on river side. Felt like upmarket camping. Lovely beds with canopy mosquito nets. Lovely on suite bathroom. Looked fairly new. Nicely set out so not on top of each other. Open sided large dining room. Beautiful Flowers on the tables. Downsides, it was cold on our visit so very cold at night, had to ask for blankets for... More

I have been staying at Tojax for the past 7 years off and on. It is a great place with great activities and a great point from which to go on excursions and and down Río dulce and lake Izabal, also out to Livingston. Lucy, the activities director, does a fabulous job coordinating and leading tours. NOTE: to those reviewing... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, and our cabin had cracks and openings everywhere so both smaller and bigger bugs could walk straight in (i hate bugs, especially spiders!!). I saw some of the cabins were sealed Around the doors and stuff so i think that would have been better for me.. + great food! + Nice pool + Nice view... More

Traveling in Central America Hacienda Tijax was one of my favorite places we stayed at. Our bungalow was quite simple, but very romantic, comfortable and clean surrounded by jungle. In the centre of the place there is a beautiful pool and the dining area is also a place which is very nice to have a relaxing drink in the evening.... More

Very cool bungalows on the Rio Dulce - pool, restaurant, and bar were all great. Taking a water taxi out to your accommodation was a really neat and unique experience to break up the standard hotel stay. The activities on offer were fun - I went kayaking and my friends opted for a horseback riding trip and we both enjoyed... More

This was certainly not our best experience and certainly the most expensive one (quality/price) in Guatemala so far. We arrived at the hotel and got a cabin around the docks, the location was nice. The bar of the restaurant as well and the cocktails are very good. Also the pool area is nice although we didnt use it since it... More

The only way to arrive at the hotel is via boat. Unfortunately no assistance is offered when getting off the boat to reception. The pier is wet and slippery, with steps and no railing making it hard to transport luggage to reception (especially when you've been travelling for some time - have two suitcases, a backpack and a handbag. The... More

We had a very relaxed stay in Tijax, perfect location on the water, nice pool, delicious food, friendly service. The cabin we had had a private bathroom, which was actually the only negative thing, because the bathroom had only a shower curtain as door and no roof, so privacy was a hard thing to find. For the rest, perfect!
