We decided last minute to visit Rio dulce and booked this hostel expecting it to be a bit rough around the edges after reading reviews. However we were extremely pleasantly surprised. We were picked up from the sun dog café and taken straight to the hostel. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who... More

Arrived at the hostel and was greeted by a friendly memher of staff who explained everything to us. We had a private room which was nice, mosquito net could do with replacing however. Food is expensive here but it's absolutely fantastic. The ladies in the kitchen are really good chefs, bravo to them. It's a shame the hotel charge for... More

Nice setting but no kitchen and sometimes some of the German staff can be slightly rude. The room was lovely though but as there is no windows etc there was absolutely tonnes of Mosquitos. Nets were provided but there was the occasional rip so we still got bitten. Being mosquito repellent obscene if coming here :-)

The rooms are very basic and drafty, right on the water (i.e. a lot of mosquitoes). The sheets on the beds were stained and looked dirty. There is no hot water to warm yourself up with. You feel very isolated as the hostel is set into the trees, which also makes it very dingy as the sunlight is blocked out.

We went for dinner, they will pick you up by launcha which is the way to go, it was like a ride at Disneyland. Food was very nice, didn't take too long, serving size was normal. Really enjoyed the location and friendly staff. The trip back after dinner was even more spectacular. Make sure you go by boat

We stayed for 1 night in room for 140q which had a double and 2 single beds with mosquito nets and shared bath with 3 other similar rooms. Also a shared terrace with hammocks and a seating area. Those we shared twith seemed unable to flush the loo. It's not that hard you know, just push the handle down. The... More

We had one nice night at Casa Perico before starting our sailing trip from rio dulce (did a 3 night sailing trip with the boat called las sirenas, it was amazing!). We loved the surroundings of casa perico, so much nature! Bring your bug repellent though, as there are many mosquitos. Food was good and there was a lot of... More

I stayed here after 3 very, very busy months so I could have a week to be by myself and really relax, and it was perfect for that. It was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful, and the staff is great. While I was there, I felt like a houseguest more than a customer at a hotel; one of the employees... More

Lovely little place, each [comfortable] dorm bed came with a mosquito net which was very handy. Great food and friendly staff. Also the boat service was helpful and regular. Just be careful with the bar tab system, as always. Nothing wrong with it, it's just that some people can lose track of what they've spent... This may include me...

Nice place for seekers of quiet, beautiful nature all around. 2 days are enough to goo see the hot waterfall, the Felipe castle, and take an excursion on the river by boat or kayak. Maco, on of the employees, was very friendly, helpful, and very nice to talk to. The food and drinks are a little too expensive. The toilets... More
