Stayed at Blackmans Cottage for a mid-week break. Great place to unwind and relax after checking out the wonderful food and wine in Mudgee. Chris was a very welcoming host and the fresh bread, coffee and jam was a nice addition.

We stayed in Calving Gully Cottage for a 10th wedding anniversary getaway and we just couldn't have had a better time. We were very impressed with the tranquillity and beauty of the setting, and also the attention to detail within the cottage itself. Loved the home-baked bread, freshly laid eggs, jam and coffee for breakfast, the cosy potbelly wood fire... More

As Sir Humphrey said "A brave decision Minister". We applaud, but suggest the push bikes next time. And thanks for the great review. More

My wife and I stayed at Calving Gully Cottage for just one night the weekend before last. We'd decided on the spur of the moment to make our first visit to Mudgee. Accommodation seemed a little hard to find so we searched TP and found Ilkley Cottages. A quick call to Chris and all was arranged. The cottage is beautifully... More

These clean, efficient cottages have a rustic appearance, inside and out, without lacking any of the modern features you would expect. Pre-loved and restored doors, windows, plumbing fixtures and furniture are complimented by reproduction items such as the "antique" electric jug. They are well insulated with air-con and even have a wood heater. Microwave, hot plates and all the cooking... More

Thanks for that comprehensive review folks. I guess the noisy flush reminds us that some things have improved over time. Any suggestions to quieten it would be considered, but the overhead cistern stays I'm afraid. More

We stayed at Blackamns cottage for 2 nights. A wonderful cottage, very comfortable, with all the country charm and personal touches. Relaxing on the deck, and taking in the wonderful view, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and watching the sun slwoly set over the westerly mountains - SENSATIONAL. A great way to welcome in the new year. Thank you to our... More

We stayed in Maggies cottage and had such a great long weekend. It is really comfortable with bathrooms for each of the bedrooms and really comfortable beds, but what really makes it is the little touches like the bread they give you every day or the port they leave out for you to drink. Being based here meant we could... More

We stayed at Calving Gully cottage for two nights. You can tell great care has gone into the creation of the cottages. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bath is the perfect size and the location is wonderfully quiet and scenic. Chris was the perfect host, invisible most of the time but immediately responded whenever we needed help... More

We had a fantastic weekend in Mudgee and would highly recommend these beautiful cottages just out the town and Yes we'll definitely be back! We stayed in Blackman's Cottage, a two bedroom cottage with a potbelly stove that warms the entire cottage - loved it!

Thanks Mark, hope the race went well. I note you took a dot off for location and value: we think the location is a plus so can't improve there, but the value can be bettered if you book direct in future. Thanks again. More

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the Calving Gully Cottage and it was just divine. The hot breakfast provisions and bread was yummy, and the kitchen is amply stocked for your basic weekend cooking. Very comfy bed, plenty of wood for the pot belly fire, and the decor is just lovely. We had dinner out on the Friday night,... More

Thanks for the great review, and the photos are fabulous, even better than the ones we've taken for our new website. It's good to get comments as we don't often get the opportunity to experience the cottages from your perspective. More

Exactly what you need to get away from it all. Beautiful, peaceful & private surroundings. Enjoy a vino sitting outside taking it all in. Gorgeous little cottage with a pot belly fire & super comfortable bed. Can't wait to come back!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A delightful 10 minute drive through the vineyards north of Mudgee takes you to a hidden hideaway, a 'retreat' in the original sense. While you still see Mudgee and the Valley, you also experience the birds, critters and solitude of the bush.Three fully self-contained cottages provide complete privacy, out of sight and sound of one another, in their own bush settings. There are several of Mudgees best eating options nearby, vine-lined lanes to ramble or cycle (using ours or yours), and verandahs from which to immerse yourselves in the sunsets over the Valley. And of course wineries. The major wineries are all between Mudgee and Ilkley. You can call in on the way home and say "What have you got to go with this magnificent Mudgee scotch fillet on the BBQ tonight?" ... more   less
