Only stayed the one night but would have liked to stay longer. but we had reserved another hotel in Toledo for the following day Cuenca is a very interesting place to visit . Spectaculat views as you walk through the old town. The hotel was very easy to find and was situated in a great location. We had booked a... more
Absolutely a delightful location. Right across the cuenca, via the iron walking bridge to Cuenca. Though we'd requested a room with a view--when we got to it, we found the non-smoking room--had been smoked heavily in (as happens too often in Spain with impunity. They need to charge smokers for cleaning these rooms to stop this.) The front desk changed... more
As a chance to experience old monastries in Spain we decided to drive from Granada to Cuence as part of a 7 week trip through Southern Europe. The schedule we decided on only gave us the opportunity to stay one night in Cuenca. We were very pleased when our booking was confirmed at the front desk but susprised that that... more
Cuenca is a beautiful place, although not as 'polished' and 'spruced-up' as some more touristy destinations. The Cathedral audio, self-guided tour is very good.. The Parador is an old convent...wonderful building next to the gorge which makes Cuenca famous...Go for a room on 2nd floor...( we stayed in 204 and had an excellent view of the Hanging Houses (Casas Colgadas)... more
We booked our stay in the Paradore having seen the reviews on TripAdvisor. On our 2 week road trip round Spain, Cuenca was one of the places we said we must visit. Upon arrival, the town's setting just blows you away. We drove out of town to the paradore which is set on a hill next to the town, with... more
Cuenca is well worth a visit and couldn't think of a better place to stay than this Parador. Managed to secure a good rate via the Parador internet specials and good value at 110 euros a night. Hotel staff friendly and helpful and good breakfast. Asked for a room overlooking the gorge when booking and had a room on 2nd... more
Having stayed in other Paradors, had hoped that this one would match or better them. However our particular room (no.222) was on the small side but did have a nice view over the valley towards the highest point of the old city. The smallness of the room was demonstrated by the fact that the bathroom door could not be opened... more
Just got back from a trip to Cuenca and I must say that this is THE place to stay if you want to feel a bit of history. The rooms are really big, with big beds and a huge bathroom. We paid extra to have a view over the Hanging Houses and really this wasn't worth it as you have... more
We only stayed at Parador de Cuenca one night and wished we would have stayed longer. The property is very interesting and the view of the gorge and hanging houses was spectacular. We had read to ask for a room on the 2nd floor on the gorge side and are so glad we did. Our room 206 was just as... more
