P. de San Jose is a charming old world hostal located in the old section of Cuenca, Spain. It sits on the edge of a gorge with fantastic views up and down the valley. Rooms vary from spartan to sumptuous. It is better to call to inquire about available rooms to obtain a more detailed description than is available on... more

Wow, what to say about a place so amazing... We stumbled across the hotel and were quite impressed with the amenities and price, unaware of its location other than being in Cuenca. The staff was incredibly helpful upon arrival and without request, gave us the best room in the hotel. Number 24 is the number one requested room on site... more

This Inn is a very special place in the very special town of Cuenca. We loved it! There are different levels of rooms to be had depending what you are looking for. We had a double room with full bath and a view. Ask for a room with a bathroom. As for the view...it was outstanding as this hotel hangs... more

We stayed here for a couple of nights and fell in love with the place. Our room was warm and welcoming (Cuenca is high up and can get very cold!). The bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel was built in the 1600's and seems to cling to the side of the ravine. The hotel's corridors are a little like... more

I stayed here after reading the recommendations below and it didn't disappoint. I loved the charm and character of this place, which must rank of one of the best stop-overs in 30 years of travelling. Rooms are clean and cosy and, whilst lovers of mod-cons like tvs and mini-bars won't like it here, to me this is yet another added... more

This hotel was very quaint. It is an old monastery or nunnery, and maintains the charm from that time. One of our rooms had a porch/terrace that overlooked the valley - the view was beautiful! They had a very good breakfast (especially by Spanish standards). The only bad thing was that we had to carry our luggage up/down the stairs... more

We found this hotel on the internet. I booked the trip via the internet so we didn't know what to expect. We took a taxi to the hotel from the town of Cuenca. The hotel is a "hanging house" of Cunca and is on top of the hill. Cars can't drive down most of the streets as they are so... more

We arrived in Cuenca, wanting to stay at the Posada de San Jose, but had not booked. Could not find the place indeed, until their van drove past us. "Follow that van!" Up the hill into the Old Town, past the Cathedral, --first right. If you have a large car, forget it! Very narrow street. Fortunately there was a room... more

We paid extra and got a room [ with bath] overlooking the gorge. Really nice with a fantastic view. I agree with the previous poster about the surly [an understatement] wait staff in the restaurant. Our first night, a Tuesday around 9.30, we were offered a table far from the window in a back corner. I asked about a table... more
