Returned after a break of a few years to find that it has become better than ever. Giovanni, the chef surpasses himself daily with phenomenal Tuscan cuisine. Massimo, the owner is a constant presence and always helpful and fun. Martina, the day manager will do everything that makes your stay a pleasure, including booking tickets for the Uffizi Gallery. The... More

We stayed in a villa 2km from the village where this hotel is situated so decided to pop up for an early evening drink with our two children. On arrival, the waitress delayed greeting us at the front desk. After a couple of minutes, she came to see what we wanted without welcoming us. We asked if we could have... More

Dear Rillie, first of all, thank you very much for coming in our Restaurant. All our guest are welcome here, both for a drink or for food. All our staff is always very kind and polite, beacause this is our FIRST work's rule. Rudness does not exists in our work's dictionary. We are very sorry if our staff appears unpolite... More

San Giovanni is not the most fashionable village in the area, but La Locanda is the perfect oasis where to catch up after a day of wondering and wandering around the Montalcino and Val d'Orcia hills. Friendly people, ready to accomodate your wills and needs, large rooms with all comforts you need, beautiful views, all in the setting of a... More

Situated in a sleepy hamlet, La Locanda del Castello is a charming place to spend a few days whilst exploring southern Tuscany's towns and villages. Our large double room was simply decorated, very clean with a good sized efficient shower. The free WiFi was reliable and the A/C was essential given the near 40 degree temperatures outside. We only sampled... More

We stayed here for five nights in August and had a truly wonderful time. Each day we ventured off and explored the various wineries and townships. The best way to describe the location is halfway to Brunello and Nobilis. Massimo the host was very hospitable and generous and ensured our stay was perfect. The place is ancient and charming and... A very beautiful location. Great food with a touch of Tuscany and a touch of Naples. The most charming owner. A good mix of customers from "local" Italian and non-Italian estate owners to classy tourists. And the wine selection should be overlooked.

My wife and I spent 2 days in this hotel - which is located in an old castle. The rooms were comfortable and the service was great. The restaurant had a selection of fantastic dishes. I remember sipping on glasses of Limoncello after dinner - served in clever little glasses that had an ice reservoir in the center ... San... More

We have chosen La Locanda del Castello from the pictures on Tripadvisor. Did not miss... Although not to close to Siena, but enjoyed driving around and checking all possible Tuscany cuisine variations. And vineries. We have stayed in very nice 1/2 room suite, not inexpensive (120€), but very high standard. Inclusive breakfast in restaurant downstairs with real Tuscan bread and... More

I recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel as part of a cycling tour I was on. The hotel is within a castle, so it's old and the rooms have lots of character. I liked my room -- and I had decent views from my window -- but it wasn't very clean. There were lots of cobwebs and there was... More
