A very beautiful location. Great food with a touch of Tuscany and a touch of Naples. The most charming owner. A good mix of customers from "local" Italian and non-Italian estate owners to classy tourists. And the wine selection should be overlooked.

My wife and I spent 2 days in this hotel - which is located in an old castle. The rooms were comfortable and the service was great. The restaurant had a selection of fantastic dishes. I remember sipping on glasses of Limoncello after dinner - served in clever little glasses that had an ice reservoir in the center ... San... More

Long weekend at "the castle" comfortable rooms, friendly staff great base to explore the area. Good air con which is a must in summer, not your typical hotel but very quaint and lovely. Would definitely return

We have chosen La Locanda del Castello from the pictures on Tripadvisor. Did not miss... Although not to close to Siena, but enjoyed driving around and checking all possible Tuscany cuisine variations. And vineries. We have stayed in very nice 1/2 room suite, not inexpensive (120€), but very high standard. Inclusive breakfast in restaurant downstairs with real Tuscan bread and... More

I recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel as part of a cycling tour I was on. The hotel is within a castle, so it's old and the rooms have lots of character. I liked my room -- and I had decent views from my window -- but it wasn't very clean. There were lots of cobwebs and there was... More

Charming hotel in a great location to use as a base for other travels and day trips to surrounding areas. Great service, comfortable beds and rooms. Daniela is a wonderful host and extremely helpful in securing reservations to one of the local wineries. Beware though, you are staying within a very small hamlet. Another reviewer said it best, "in 5... More

This is a 10-room inn located in a castle (which hosts probably the only truffle museum in the world) with a first class restaurant. We had a two room suite with a modern, clean bathroom. We used La Locanda del Castello as our base for visiting Siena, Montelpuciano, Pienza, and so many other places. Daniela is the host and she... More

Lovely hotel in a very quaint tiny Tuscan hill-top town (in 5 mins you will have seen it all) Rooms are in good condition (not recently renovated but still very clean and respectable) Owners are extremely helpful and accommodating Hotel restaurant is very good (larger than the hotel would need and attracts clients from a wider area) with lovely outside... Small hotel located in a restored portion of the castle. San Giovanni is a small quiet town - with few dining options. It is therefore a real positive that the hotel restaurant is seriously good. Dinner there, hosted by the owner - was exceptional. The rooms are, as expected on the small side, as are the bathrooms - but they... More

We stayed here at the beginning of June for 4 nights at the end of our Tuscan trip. A very lovely little hotel in a quiet town about an hour away from Siena. A great base for visiting Montepulciano, Cortona, among others, its a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day. The restaurant below is... More
