For me L'Orto Degli Angeli will always be uniquely special: it is a privilege to stay in this restful, gracious home with so many fascinating family treasures shared within its stone walls. The small team of staff are charming, the ambience very secluded despite the central location and the delightful breakfasts made all the more so by the solicitous attentions... More

Our first thought when we entered our room, was wow, due to its large size (we had been staying in hostels!). The room had a great spacious lounge area with a couch and a large bathroom. The bedroom if self however was quite small. The double bed was in a smaller room down two stairs, which was a little cramped... More

I really liked this hotel, but do recognise that it won't be for everyone. The building is a fascinating, historically rich place to stay, but will obviously be imperfect due to its age. I personally loved the unique architecture and novelty (we don't have too many hotels in medieval buildings in Australia). Our room was large with a great bathroom... More

This hotel was even more beautiful than we'd expected. We stayed in a suite, which was absolutely gorgeous, with charming views of Umbrian rooftops and the hotel garden. But in addition to lovely rooms, there is a large, welcoming living room on the second floor, and additional rooms and a balcony for reading or relaxing. It's just beautiful and added... More

As other reviewers have already noted, the hotel is in a historic building. It is unique and special. Many rooms overlook a medieval courtyard and its restaurant (which is excellent) is in the gallery of the former roman amphitheatre. Even in Italy, you're not going to come by a place like this all the time. It is a 4 star... More

L'Orto degli Angeli is a Residenza d'Epoca. This means that it is in a building of historical significance, and that although it has all the modern conveniences (in the bathrooms particularly) it retains the character of an earlier age. Each room is different, so generalizations are difficult. We stayed in two rooms (more about this later). One was very large... More

Unfortunately, as often is the case in Italy with hotels in historic buildings, the service was not up to the standards expected. A very loud party was held in the restaurant, with music clearly audible in our room - when we telephoned the night clerk to complain, we were bluntly told that "it was to be expected" - frankly, when... Firstly I will start by saying that Bevagna is a place you MUSt visit. It is my favourite small town in all of Umbria, in fact Italy! It is the perfect base for day trips to Spello , Assissi , Monefalco, Orvieto , Todi and Spoleto. After staying there a week ,my partner and I felt like locals. Everyone was... More

We felt sort of honoured to be able to 'live' in a genuine Renaissance palace and for us this was compensation for the slight under-achievement of the hotel in other areas. As already reported the beds are slabs of concrete and I couldn't sleep, for 5 nights, although my husband (heavier and therefore able to make an impression in the... More

It's hard to describe this hotel - it's like being transported back to medieval times or a film set. Everything feels as it might have centuries ago, including sooty fireplaces, draperies slightly dirty, and dark moody common rooms. The man on the front desk who does the night shift is decidedly grumpy, but Sourine who came to our room to... More
