We stayed at Montchateau for 3 nights on the way south. We had a room that over looked the valley, the views are stunning. Hazel and Phil are excellent hosts with Hazel cooking lovely meals at the weekends. If you want a peaceful setting and you are a keen walker i would recommend this B&B for a longer stay. We... More

We caught the train from Paris CDG to Grenoble and then drove to Montchateau. What a gorgeous little village, winding up the mountain through some tiny streets, seeing patches of snow as we pass by on a frosty late winters day! The rooms are gorgeous, spacious, very clean and just as pictured Breakfast is freshly made (it does cost extra... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a great review for us, it's much appreciated. I'd just like to comment about paying extra for breakfast. In fact breakfast is included in all of our room rates. The extra you paid was for the extra person who came with you as you paid single person occupancy rate for the room... More

We recently stayed at this lovely B&B for two nights to explore nearby Annecy. Everything from our initial welcome, very well appointed room and excellent home cooked meal in the evening was first class. We would recommend MontChateau without reservation and would not hesitate to return.

Thank you Hazel & Phil for another wonderful stay, we enjoyed another delicious meal with you. Your beautiful chateau is a haven of peace and tranquility, wish we had been able to stay longer. We will definitely be returning :)

A beautiful property with stunning views, lovely rooms and February hosts! We only stayed one night and were reluctant to leave had we not be travelling down to the south of France. We had a very yummy 3 course evening meal with the other guests and hosts Hazel & Phil. Interesting convo and lovely wine. I was eager to go... More

Loved this place, its location, the standard of the rooms & facilities, but the best was the bed & pillows. Off all our stays on our short break this bed was the best, so important when traveling around. We did have a little difficulty finding it but our sat nav sorted us out. They also have a small kitchen which... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our accommodation at Montchateau and for your positive comments, they are much appreciated. We're sorry you felt that we were not as welcoming as other B&B experiences that you have had and we will take this into consideration in the future. We also take on board that it is not clear on... We recently spent a night here en route to the Alps, it exceeded our expectations. The bedroom was very tasteful and very clean, with comfortable bed and pillows. Although the weather was freezing the room was really cosy. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a superb evening meal cooked by Hazel, very well... More

We had a little trouble finding it – Hazel and Phil have only been open for business for a few months after spending a couple of years restoring the building, and are still negotiating with their neighbors to get permission to put signs up pointing to their house. It looked just like the photos on their web site so we... More

We had two rooms for one evening as we were touring a family member from Canada. The setting was fabulous, the accommodations first rate, the meal excellent and our hosts, Phil and Hazel, were warm and wonderful to visit with. Highly recommend the table d'hote, it was a lovely experience. It is an memorable adventure driving through the mountain foothills,... More

We stayed one night but wish it was many more. We stayed in the new bedroom on the top floor and it was so spacious and comfortable. The view from the bedroom (and the rest of the front of the house) was amazing and peaceful. Our hosts, Phil and Hazel, were so friendly and we enjoyed their two cats. We... More
