We (3 adults) spent 2 nights at Surf City so we could explore the Great Ocean Rd. Good points - cheap; big room with a 2nd room for my mum; a little kitchenette; close to main restaurant part of town; opposite the beach. Areas of concern - the air con heater struggled to heat the big room; the portable heater... More

We arrived after a 10 hour drive from Newcastle, NSW, happy to be starting our Great Ocean Road adventure we arrived at Surf City but if this was the norm we would have gone straight home !!!! The place was grubby our room had cigarette butts in an ash tray at the front door, the room was big but freezing... More

We stayed here for my 50th birthday. Great location, walking distance to beach, restaurants and shops. Great for catching a sunset. The rooms had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Owners very friendly and accommodating.

Maybe we caught the owners out unawares, maybe they had things going on at the time beyond their control? We called in as a late booking, 10 minutes notice, reduced rate ...... appreciated they could get us in. But, heater not working and owners really not interested on reporting this Kitchen and restaurant being refurbished at the time. Room had... More

This was the 1st motel we found to stay in for the Great Ocean Road trip. Great location but disappointing accommodation. Old, out of date decor and over priced at $130 for queen room. Advantage of dining and drinks after a long travel. Meals over priced but value for money. Ordered breakfast for next morning but did not arrive. Would... More

The hotel itself was quite spacious, and in quite a nice spot on the esplanade. There was a small hiccup when booking but overall I was pleasantly surprised. Lovely hosts and really laid back. Would return for sure, great value too.

Stayed at this motel with family in Jan 2014 and would never return. Motel in bad need of upgrade, air conditioning did not work, microwave did not work, swimming pool was green and unable to be used. Couch in room was so bad they covered it with a blanket. Garden unkept. Overall only good side to this venue was the... More

Stayed here for the GVBR night, with partner and door. Prices were jacked up and we paid $191/room; one of the few that wasnt a 2 night stay. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and probably 15 years old to explain its bumps. Shower was mouldy and unsavoury. And finally, in the morning we need some plates and bowls for breakfast. There... Overall very average rooms with old moldy tiles and bad quality matresses. The pool was also out of service and green at the beginning of summer. We were surprised at the poor quality of service. We had no plates in our room and were told when we asked for some "we don't supply plates, we're a motel" after having to... More

Recently stayed here in a 2 bedroom family room. If your looking for something flashy then don't stay here. This is just an average motel with average facilties, which was quite okay for us. The room has tea & coffee making facilites, as well as a toaster & microwave. The pool is quite small but big enough for a dip,... More
