Stayed at this motel with family in Jan 2014 and would never return. Motel in bad need of upgrade, air conditioning did not work, microwave did not work, swimming pool was green and unable to be used. Couch in room was so bad they covered it with a blanket. Garden unkept. Overall only good side to this venue was the... More

Stayed here for the GVBR night, with partner and door. Prices were jacked up and we paid $191/room; one of the few that wasnt a 2 night stay. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and probably 15 years old to explain its bumps. Shower was mouldy and unsavoury. And finally, in the morning we need some plates and bowls for breakfast. There... Overall very average rooms with old moldy tiles and bad quality matresses. The pool was also out of service and green at the beginning of summer. We were surprised at the poor quality of service. We had no plates in our room and were told when we asked for some "we don't supply plates, we're a motel" after having to... More

Recently stayed here in a 2 bedroom family room. If your looking for something flashy then don't stay here. This is just an average motel with average facilties, which was quite okay for us. The room has tea & coffee making facilites, as well as a toaster & microwave. The pool is quite small but big enough for a dip,... More

I booked a king spa room from wotif.com and jumped onto Surfcity's website to get a closer look at the rooms, bbq and pool area. While the bbq and pool looked sad and slightly neglected the room was comfortable. As usual, I opened up all the cupboards and drawers in the romm (kind of a habit I have when entering... More

I found it hard to get excited about the Surf City Motel, despite its superb location on Torquay's beach. I found it to be yet another tired-looking country motel, adequate for a night's stay, and priced at a rate comparable to other motels of this standard. The room was not large, but it was clean and everything worked. The mattresses... More

To be honest this was not our first choice and it ended up our only choice. We were attending the Neil Young concert and like most of us we left it way too late to organise a bed. But WOW would go back again without hesitation. Firstly the rooms are 70's but large and roomy and very clean. Good size... More

The location of this hotel is perfect. We only stayed one night, but first thing in the morning we went and walked along the beach which was great. Growlers the restaurant long the road served great food, and we spent a pleasent evening there before wobbling back to the Surf City Motel. The room was good for what we wanted,... More

We found this place on the recommendation of the local Tourist Information. It's ideally situated right on the seaside with shops and some very good restaurants within easy walking distance. We found the price for a room to be very reasonable. If you want a good room for a good price this is the place to go!

Onsite parking and the location are the only things going for this motel. I was in Torquay for work and was booked into this hotel. The shower was full of mould and did not look like it had been cleaned between the last person checking out and me checking in, there was shampoo like substance all over the shower screen... More
