This motel, located on the outskirts of Stawell, is set well back from the main road and this translates into the rooms being very quiet in regard to road noise. The "BOX" style reverse cycle aircon that provided the primary heating was as noisy as these things always are but you get used to it after a while. Thankfully, as... More

Backed by a still brown water filled billabong this motel is set well back from the highway so in terms of traffic noise it is VERY quiet at night. The buildings and fittings are a shade tired however my room was very clean and comfortable. Being mid-winter I had the reverse cycle aircon running flat out all night (earplugs muffled... More

Found this place by accident while a little tired from driving because I don't normal like to stay at highway motels because of the noise. To my surprise I didn't hear a thing. As well as that the bed was nice and comfortable and the room was a good size. There is a beautiful big lake around the motel, which... More

We made a last min booking at this Lodge. We are thoroughly amazed at how beautiful this place is with a relatively cheap price compared to other lodges in this area. There is a lake in the centre of the property, you can even row a boat for free in the lake as you like. Room is so clean and... More

We recently stayed at this motel and were surprised and very pleased with our accommodation. The room was clean, big, not expensive. We dined in the restaurant and found the staff friendly and efficient. This was the last night of our holiday and we couldn.t have asked for a better place to stay on our last night. We had a... I stayed overnight at the Magdala and I was thoroughly impressed. The room was clean and spacious. There is a delightful space at the rear of the unit to sit by the small lake and watch the sunset or feed the waterbirds whilst enjoying a drink. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff most attentive - especially... More

The Information Centre in Stawell had provided us with a list of motels, highlighting those with the in-house dining we had requested. The first motel we checked out was creepy in the extreme: the only available rooms were at the top of a ricketty staircase; the one we were shown had an ill fitting external door that needed forceful, noisy... We stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of a heat wave. I booked direct with the hotel and the staff, both at check in and check out, were very friendly and efficient. It was on the main highway as were most of the Stawell hotels but we didn't notice any noise in the room. Our room overlooked a... More

I recently stayed at the Magdala while travelling through Australia on business. During a trip filled with stays at high end Hiltons and Mantras the two nights we spent at the Magdala were rather average, but this wasn't unexpected outside of Australia's major cities. There were two of us travelling and our first room was a two bedroom suite. The... More

It's the little niceties which make the difference: plenty of good quality towels, electric blanket, room with views of waterway and bushland, away from the highway. After a long drive from Adelaide to Melbourne, I appreciated the comfort of this motel and the warm welcome from the hosts.
