We recently attended a birthday "long lunch" at the Smith and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The upsatirs "Mr Smith" room was ideal for a group of around 40 and the menu of three courses with three options for each provided great choices. We can't comment on the pricing as it was a... More

Really loved the food at this place. Tasty, fresh, good variety of different tastes. Very friendly waitering and wine staff. The only thing that I thought that let it down a bit was it was quite loud inside and difficult to hear people around you talking. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Having dined several times at The Smith, I can say it is definitely Prahran's hotspot any night of the week. It is always busy for dinner, so best to make a booking, especially if you're dining with a party of more than 2 people. The lunch specials are great value and the dinner menu is for sharing. There isn't anything... More

I really like this restaurant. The first time was a Wednesday for lunch - we were a group of 8 and had the set menu - 5 delicious small courses and a glass of wine, good value. We then ordered dessert as an extra - fabulous. Most recently I went on a Friday night - yes, it is loud and... More

Having read good reviews in The Age, we were so disappointed with our experience at The Smith. We had a table of 8 and were placed in the upstairs part of the restaurant. (If we had sat downstairs we were given a 2 hour window to exit within as they do two seatings there.) Upstairs we experienced plastic chairs, no... More

We have dined here several times, and each time, the food has been fantastic. We came here for lunch on a weekday and shared the tapas style dishes, which were all lovely. The second time, we came on a Saturday night, the food was great, but it was so noisy and crowded, it was uncomfortable. We came again recently on... More

There are few places in Australia that match The Smith Restaurant and Bar. I first came here not long after they first opened about a year ago and have had my mind blown on each subsequent visit. The soft shell crab tortillas are without equal, just unbelievably good. Better still, the menu doesn't start and end there. Executive chef Michael... More

Went to The Smith for Sunday lunch today and left a little wanting. I thought that some dishes need a flavour hit. Fish croquettes and Osso Bucco tacos were good however the pork belly and quail needed seasoning. The steak for mains was good however the fish special and duck breast was small. Overall, I wanted more for my money.

We booked in the full knowledge that there are two sittings at this very popular eatery. Whilst the food was of a quite good standard, we certainly didn't appreciate the constant prodding from the staff to keep us "on schedule" to have us out in time. To quote our condescending waitresss "You have 11 minutes, if you order dessert now... More

Chef Michael Lambie has done a great job! The food is brilliant and the service was also amazing (our waitress Melissa recommended to share plates and we did - best tip). Michael also walks around his restaurant which was amazing to see such a highly acclaimed chef being so approachable and personable. The only negative - the front bar stinks... More
