Recently, my family had a reunion and made the long but pleasant journey from Melbourne down to Port Fairy.........just to have dinner at the Merrijig Inn. I had risen early and departed Brisbane at dawn so my trip was even longer. But it was all worth it........... As there were 12 of us. We were given a room to ourselves... More

Stayed one night in an attic room. Delightful cottage feel. Lovely bed, cute attic windows opening out to the partial river view. Garden pleasant, breakfast room overlooks the garden. Breakfast substancial, plenty of cereal, toast (bread made on the premises), fruits and home made conserves, one cooked choice which was delicious - oven roasted mushroom omelette the morning we were... Great welcome by Liz, even though we arrived late. Huge garden room, with big bathroom. Very close to the port for a walk, as it's across the road. Dinner and drinks are of exceptionally good quality, with the wine menu devoted to Australian wines, giving useful comparisons to European equivalents. Perfect for young or older couples who like their food.... More

The Merrijig Inn has great history, and is situated very prettily and conveniently near the small port and a quick walk to the local Main Street. I think if you managed to get one of the larger rooms you would have a delightful stay. But we were in an attic room, and they are just too small for me to enjoy,... More

We rang only 48 hours before arriving in Port Fairy and after failing to secure a room at 2 other establishments, were offered an attic room with ensuite. Yes, it's quirky and charming, and small, and lucky for me I sleep on the left side of the bed, my poor husband nearly knocked himself out every time he got out... More

We were here in 2012 and again in August 2014. Love the place! Great meals, great service, great bedding and a breakfast to die for! But why did you guys replace the nice lounge suite with that awful ten inch high sofa that looks like it has had the legs cut off?? We will forgive you for that tho!! Love... More

We stayed here overnight as part of our first leg of a South Australian Holiday and it was just lovely. The staff were attentive and warm and having seen the height of my husband (tall) moved us down from their cozy attic room which I had booked, to the king suite at no extra cost. It was huge with its... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in a Queen Suite using a voucher from Living Social. The hotel is well located and our room was fairly basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and I particularly liked the organic apple juice. However there is no choice for the cooked breakfast. Consequently one morning I had to... More
