Beautiful, peaceful setting - early morning birdsong was the only sound to disturb j(or rather enhance the feeling of tranquility. Room was excellent standard with tea and coffee provided. Good choice of food and very well prepared - we all ate different dishes and were delighted with them. Breakfast was superb and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts.... More

We stayed overnight for a friends wedding in nearby Hedingham and arrived to be greeted by Diana with a glass of Proseco! The rooms are fine, not quite 'luxurious', but very comfortable. But what made the stay enjoyable was the warm service by Diana, her hard working husband James (who cooked a lovely dinner and a marvellous hearty breakfast) and... More

Diane and James are amazing! Diane is so hospitable and great at front of house whilst James is a truly wonderfully talented chef. What a great team they make and what a fantastic business they have. Will be going back for dinner (and hopefully a stay) at the earliest opportunity!

Having read previous reviews before we booked to stay last week I feel I can hardly add anything different as all the superlatives have already been used. It is a rural gem because it is so quiet, we were not disturbed by traffic or anything else so had a good night's sleep. Rakhel was very welcoming and the glass of... More

We spent two lovely nights at The Pheasant. We stayed in a very nice room with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. We were blessed with great weather and had the opportunity to explore the surrounding area. Our room was very clean, tidy and well maintained. We ate in the restaurant both nights and had wonderful meals. Food was... More

had a pleasant stay at the Pheasant but felt things could be a lot better. It didn't really inspire me to go back and didn't match up to other stays in Suffolk like at the Westleton Crown. We had a suite which was nice enough but could hear the front door outside every time anyone walked in. The rooms are... More

My husband and I booked a one night Secret Escape deal to stay at The Coach House at the Pheasant and it did not disappoint. On arrival we were greeted warmly with a complimentary glass of prosecco and a cream tea- which was part of our deal. As I am gluten free i couldn't have the cream tea, but it... More

Househunting north of Sudbury we passed a sign for Gestingthorpe and dredged from our joint memory banks the name of The Pheasant and made the diversion. What a good decision! Although the pub/restaurant was quiet on Wednesday lunchtime we were treated as old friends and enjoyed superb hospitality. My wife cannot abide liver at home while I enjoy it so... More

We booked at this hotel as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Hedingham Castle. Unfortunately my 'satnav' is rather old and I found myself lost in the beautiful countryside, however a quick phone call gave us the correct route and we were greeted at the premises with a complimentary glass of prosecco. Our room(the Courtold room) was delightfully... More

Wonderful short break out in the country with lovely walks on your doorstep. Stayed in the Gainsborough suite which was both quiet and comfortable. Fabulous food with very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return..
