The good: Beautifully furnished and appointed room (Courtauld) overlooking extensive countryside into the far distance. Enjoyably quiet although the place was fully booked. An excellent selection of complimentary beverages, including fresh milk and bottled water in a small 'fridge and hand crafted toiletries were provided. The bad: Confirmed bookings for 2 nights were made via Secret Escapes on 7th June... More

We have now recently stayed on 3 separate occasions and been delighted every time. The location is perfect if you like the English countryside and the Pheasant a perfect English pub, restaurant and bedrooms. The food is great pub grub, atmosphere superb and relaxed. We have already booked two further stays and don't hesitate to recommend it. A big thank... More

The welcome was warm, the room was spacious, bright and airy and the food was spectacular. After a long time away from the UK we decided that our first night should be in an English country inn. We made the right choice. The view from our bedroom (The Captain Oates Room) across the wheat fields was beautiful. The room had... More

My husband and I had a meal here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary, the food was superb and the service excellent, we would highly recommend The Pheasant if you like good food. The interior is welcoming plus the do a range of nice beers. We are both vegetarian and the went out of their way to cook us something special.

Food exemplary. Specials were creative. Using a lot of their own or local produce. Breakfast was faultless. A great Chablis by the glass and great beer. Room excellent with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Staff very helpful with menu choices&surrounding walks. Will be back.

We stayed at the Pheasant after hearing good things about it from locals. We were staying as we were attending a birthday celebration during the day and evening and intended to check in then get a taxi to Castle Hedingham. However our initial experience was not very positive. We arrived Saturday lunchtime to find some village event blocking the entrance... More

Stayed here as a last minute deal with my partner as we wanted somewhere close to Cambridge where we could just get away for the world for the night and relax. We chose this place based on the top pub rating and the reviews on TripAdvisor. The rooms are big, clean, comfortable and very quiet. can't fault them at all.... More

Accommodation was lovely, clean and even jacuzzi bath! Views out across the fields are amazing, and so peaceful ....no traffic noise. Food was gorgeous and served by delightful hostess Diana and staff ....nothing was too much trouble. Only problem...we only had 1 night stay! Will def go back to re-charge our batteries.

My wife and I stayed here on a Secret Escapes deal for one night costing £144 for the two of us. This included a glass of Prosecco on arrival, a gorgeous cream tea which included the best scones we have ever tasted and a two course dinner plus full English breakfast. Now that’s what I call value for money. The... More

Stayed in the Oates room which has a great jacuzzi bath, and touches like books themed on Scotts antarctic expedition for example. Food was superb - service excellent. A real treat in the morning was the smoked Haddock which was simply fantastic. Our second visit and we will come back as soon as we can !
