In short this rural and (very) rustic idyll is ideal for those who want to escape the bustle of peak-season Lorne but want to be close enough to take easy advantage of the beautiful beach and other amenities of this wonderful Victorian sea-side town. If you are looking for a quiet getaway to be 'at one' with nature (complete with... More

Stayed in the rose cottage and it was perfect. Massive space, slept the 5 of us easy. Decor is stunning. Firewood already chopped. Super clean. Owners even came to fix the oven as soon as we mentioned it. All utensils provided for BBQ etc. creek out front, even hand feed a few parrots and kokabarras. Stay here

WE stayed here 10 years ago. Perfect, a 5 Star experience. Recently, it's changed hands. It's kind of the same in that the setting is fantastic, birds and forest. Beautiful. The cottages are still really cute. But we were booked into Riverbank and it was filthy. Food scraps on the BBQ, dirty floor, flies on the window sills, a cloud... More

We spent two nights in the Kero cottage and wish we could have stayed far longer. Driving into the property I was completely blown away by how lush, green and tranquil the setting is. The little rustic cottage was cozy and comfortably furnished, with fresh flowers in vases and wood on the porch ready to make a fire. Waking up... More

Allenvale is an incredibly beautiful place. My boyfriend took me away for two night for my birthday and I was blown away. You constantly hear the river, which i right outside your front door and there are plenty of nature walks nearby. Not much phone reception, so it's great if you want to be left in peace for your stay.... More

We spent almost a week staying in Rose Cottage and it was truly one of the most idyllic, magical and serene places we have ever stayed! Allenvale itself is an utterly gorgeous spot with an abundance of amazing wildlife (including kangaroos, kookaburras, cheeky King Parrots, and other adorable birdlife). There is a river running through the property and the surroundings... More

Great stock of firewood and nicely decorated with a loads of old magazines to look through. Great book collection too. Loved the location and the outlook from the main bedroom. It's very private and the amenities are all good. Could do with a maintenance and cleaning plan. Would visit again.

We stayed at Kero cottage for 2 nights. Nice touch with wild flowers in vases. But the curtains smell and there were mice droppings on the window sills. There were critter sounds in the ceiling at night. The sofas were covered with old sheets that looked like they haven't been washed for ages. The place has charm and character but... More

We stayed in the double story 'Riverbank' cottage this time and it was perfect. The surrounding bush and views from each of the windows lent a real serenity to our stay. We loved the wood fire and found the couches and beds comfortable and warm. It was wonderful to wake up to the view of the bush with kookaburras hunting... More
