You get what you pay for I realise, but this place really was run down. Needs to be sold and done up. Junk shop kitsch everywhere, although some of the decor retained from the nunnery was interesting and appropriate. Unprofessional ad hoc patching up here and there. Good mattress but very hard pillow kept me uncomfortable. Evidence of meanness in... More

We booked the Velvet room ( or whatever it was) thinking it would be very romantic for the price but we were disappointed. While the B&B was neat and clean it had a lack of charm and romance. It was very cold and miserable weather but the house was warm, with the modern heating, however, it would have been more... More

I read the reviews of Leura House, but still went ahead with the booking. This place is enchanting in an oldy worldy way. For me the experience was like stepping back in time. Something reminiscent of sharing an old boarding house with like-minded strangers, creaky floors and old paintings and artefacts scattered around. We had the the mid-week special. For... More

A delightful old convent which could be a delightful place to stay. Instead, the owner's mean attitude takes away from the historic feel of the place. No log fire, poor breakfast, lots of rules written everywhere. This may have suited the nuns, but if you're looking for a warm, welcoming, generous B & B in the Mountains, look elswhere!

Grabbed the mid-week special (good value) and were allocated a room at the rear of Leura House. The room, Number 7, overlooked the garden and there was only a little noise from the Great Western Highway and railway line. Nothing to worry about. The room was adequately furnished with a very comfortable bed and plenty of drawer space. It was... More

We were lucky to get a midweek special in early May - so for the price, I was pleasantly surprised by the super-comfy queen bed, large room, spotless bathroom, and views over the garden and the Blue Mountains. We loved the Victorian feel of the building, and the comfortable lounge area, and the internet worked well. The only negatives were... More

We paid top dollars as it was Easter weekend (I do understand that this is going to be more expensive. Bed very hard. Decor very sad and dated. I requested gluten free bread for breakfast, but they had neglected to provide any saying that the shops had been shut the day before so they hadn't purchased any. The breakfast was... More

We arrived to find the appearance of the building did not match the photo, clearly it had been taken some time ago. We were welcomed by the owner who was more officious than friendly and provided a tired overview of the history. We were bustled up to our room and given brief instructions on how to get in and out... More

First point - dont bother turning up before 2pm because the office is not open. We stayed in February and it was very hot in the rooms. No airconditioning and no fan. Breakfast is only served between 8:30 and 09:30 so its very restrictive. Saying that the breakfast wasnt great, hard poached eggs, bacon and tomato. The back garden is... More

If you're looking for a modern, sterile, chain Hotel with all the modern conveniences and frills, this is definitely not for you. This hotel is beautifully situated within easy walking distance, and just a few minutes walk away from the head of the main street in Leura. The house carries a lot of history - being the first house to... More
