Had a very unexpected stay, and was charmed by this lovely old style hotel, full of character, stunning mountain valley hilltop views and most notably extreme professionalism in customer service. I was not able to review the Jamison restaurant, as it was fully booked with a Yuletide event. I did breakfast though, and enjoyed the views. There is something quite... More

Lovely old hotel, bit like you would find in an Agatha Christie novel. Warm, inviting, history on the walls. Perfect location. They bill themselves as a Spa but one wouldn't know it as there is nothing to indicate so.

Dear martinc T25LN Thank you for providing your wonderful comments on our 106 year old mountain retreat. We do have a large sign at reception for the spa, and brochures and information in the rooms. The Spa is not within the main building, it is within the grounds in a separate building, so it is not quite as visible as... More

The ambience created by Christmas trees and roaring log fires was enhanced by waking to snow. The dinner was excellent -although for some reason my husband's roll was unavailable til he had finished his starter! Good to see local wines on the menu. A bit disappointed that our 'heritage view' room did not have any easy chairs or sofa (only... More

Dearbydand2005, Thank you for staying with us. It certainly was a wonderful snow experience which certainly helped provide a real winter atmosphere with log fires and Yulefest Christmas trees. We do have many view rooms with sofas, so please make sure you request one of those next time you book. We do provide dressing gowns and slippers in the Premier... More

We had a 1 night stay. What a lovely place, spacious, warm & comfortable hotel. The restaurant was lovely, the food - delicious. We were lucky that it snowed over night, a lot of snow, so that it was a lovely white winter wonderland when we woke up on Friday morning - an unexpected bonus. The only downside was the... More

Dear Barbara C Thank you for taking the time to provide your comments. It was certainly great timing in terms of the snowfall, and it definitely did provide a surprising winter wonderland on Friday morning. Our very reduced staff numbers (due to many being snowbound) did do their best to maintain regular service, and indeed we did have coffee, hot... More

Beautiful building in great location. Well appointed room with fabulous view. Very comfortable bed, good size room with comfy sofa and spa bath. Lovely dining room/restaurant that takes best advantage of the view. Free wifi (we have business commitments and we won't stay anywhere that doesn't offer free wifi these days). Great breakfast. We were only there one night and... More

Lovely place on the hill with great views. The hotel had old-fashioned charm and was well maintained. We didn't stay at this hotel but stopped in for lunch on a Thursday after the long weekend in June. It was very quiet when we got there, apparently missed the holiday rush. The food and service were great, glad we stopped in... More

I enjoyed my stay here two years ago enough to come back, and I enjoyed this stay even more! I visited with my three children as a treat for my birthday. From booking through to check out, my experience was great. We had a room in the turret, which was a good size for us and had a lovely view.... More

The hotel in itself is very beautiful. We went there for 'christmas in July' (Yulefest), there were christmas trees and open fires everywhere, that was wonderful! The hotel is very well located with a wonderful view from the dining room. The pitty is that they organised a special christmas dinner at 150$ pp during all weekends of July and for... More

For a historic hotel, the deluxe room with no view I booked felt very new and spotless, especially the toilet, and did have a bit of a view to the right! Even though it was not expected, a sofa bed was neatly laid out with extra towels for my child. I was prepared to have him squeeze between us as... More
