The food and bar service is excellent. Quiet, relaxing, and peaceful for an overnight stay. The lounge areas are unique. I've always loved this place and continue to enjoy regular weekend visits here. The breakfast is good, and it's great to have morning newspapers readily available to all guests. Great value and lots of fun for couples.

I was staying at the Carrington for three nights for a wedding. We stayed in room 1 which was a Colonial Room. I have stayed in hostels around Europe with toilets clogged with vomit which I felt cleaner in. The bath was chipped, the toilet seat didn't stay up and the worst part was the walls were covered in mould...and... More

This is one of those places you can't hate despite its failings. Stayed late September in a spa room (only because the non spa rooms were unavailable). It was clearly a grand old lady in its day and I believe it is being slowly renovated but it's not there yet. It's right in the centre of Katoomba, a 2 minute... More

We had two nights here and would have loved a week. This is a beautifully kept hotel built in 1880, retaining many original features. There are different levels of accommodation. We chose a room with en suite. The room was very spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the doors opened onto a terrace with gorgeous views of the mountains.... More

We we're excited at having High Tea at this historic hotel. We were buoyed by the photos and sample menu which portrayed a large & generous selection treats. What we got was less than satisfactory. Two scones each, one bite sized quiche each, 3 different sandwiches of two small fingers each, 2 thumb sized macaroons and 3 small deserts, minute... More

Spent a couple of night there and its was an amazing experience, if you like to see and feel a bit of Australian history this is the place, high ceilings, heavy doors with actual keys and beautiful views, didn't dine in their dinning room which is beautiful just had continental breakfast which was very simple and nothing special. it was... My partner and I stayed here last week. The staff and the hotel itself are OK, but don't bother dining there if you like good service. Of a Thursday night with less than ten tables to tend, the night dining room staff managed to keep us waiting for at least an hour for dessert. The whole exercise of serving dinner... More

We stayed one night in a spa view room which was on the third floor! If you are looking for a place to stay which is different from the run of the mill hotel/motel accommodation this is the place to stay! They have rooms of varying prices that all include a complimentary continental breakfast. We paid 275 for our room,... More

Had 2 nights here and loved it. Enjoyed exploring the hotel with quirky rooms here and there, interesting old photos in the ballroom, lovely open fire in the lounge. Gorgeous dining room. Breakfast was great as was dinner. Would highly recommend. Community centre next to hotel was great too with good exhibitions.

Just got back from a trip to the blue mountains. We chose The Carrington for its atmosphere, and we were not disappointed. A short walk from the train station, the sweeping curved driveway and stoop already takes you back to a bygone era. We had backpacks, but I did see other guests hefting big bags up the stairs, so be... More
