Modest accommodation ,but all mod cons including heater, electric blanket, heated bathroom ,microwave ,Television and free wifi. A good restaurant on site serves good quality food. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep before venturing down to Strahan and to the West Coast Wilderness Railway in town. Zeehan is only about 40 kilometres away so Queenstown makes... More

We had a good room, clean and good a bed. No problems for an over night stay. Dinner and service in the Onsite restaurant was average. Sorry. All else was fine. Nice view too. Good place to jump on train next morning. Very short drive (couple of mins to train station for a quick breakfast before "all aboard"

Friends tell me that the Silver Hills Motel was the first motel in Queenstown. The now retro design of the main building and restaurant are perfect for the site and give diners a spectacular view of Queenstown's hills. Queenstown is a small mining town so don't expect luxury accommodation. I had requested a ground floor room for three people -... More

Silver Hills is a good overnight stop between Queenstown and Hobart. Our was was clean and newly renovated. The heater in the room worked well and electric blankets are provided. We had a front room and could not hear any road noise at all. There was plenty of hot water. A heater in the bathroom would be nice. Dinner in... More

Good accommodation in Queenstown is limited but the management at Silver Hills are providing accommodation at a competitive price and are in the process of bringing a tired facility up to current expected standards. The room we stayed in had been refurbished and was spotlessly clean, the restaurant is huge with a roaring open fire in the middle of the... More

Some of the reviews were great but when we got there were put into a very ordinary room without much to recommend it. The room was right above the main road and was noisy. The dining room was ok, we had soup which was very nice but there was no real atmosphere. The bathroom was very average or less. The... More

Hi Margaret, Many thanks for your review and I'm sorry that our many positive reviews had given you hyped expectations ??? We are an iconic West Coast motel, but being an older property our room sizes are a little modest compared to modern mainland properties. Ours have great beds, great heaters, flat screen TV's etc etc. I have never had... More

Stayed 1 night. Had booked a deluxe room. BUT on arrival a DELUXE room didn't have a microwave. So I requested to view a standard room which had a microwave. In my opinion the standard room was better than the deluxe room. the standard room was only $6.00 cheaper, but was a more practical room with better views. The lady... More

Hi Rhonfor, Thanks for your review. We have done a lot of work on our standard rooms and we agree with you that they are coming up nicely, bathrooms have been refreshed, new beds and mostly new carpets too. These rooms have generally suited a particular market of ours so have always had microwaves, but I appreciate your point that... More

Travelled through the Franklin Gordon World Heritage Forest to end up in Queenstown and the Silver Hills Motel.....Staff were friendly, room was basic but clean and warm. The restaurant was a little overpriced as they all seem to be in Tassie but the food was quite good..

The rooms here are very old fashioned looking. The wood grain look is back big time! However the rooms were clean and functional with modern TV and good light fittings. The heaters worked too well, almost cooked myself, and the bathrooms while old were okay and clean. We ate at the restaurant one night and were pleasantly surprised by the... More

Stayed here for 1 night while travelling through Tassie, room was basic but had everything we needed. Had a lovely meal at the restaurant. Staff were great and the host advised us on a great hike to do at Montezuma Falls!
