This is definitely not a Tripadvisor 4 dots hotel as we were led to believe, it's more of a 2.5-3 dots hotel. I've since come to find out after staying in hotels for 4 weeks in Australia that a number of the hotels that were booked in North America (NA) before we left, were over-rated compared to our NA standard.... We have been travelling for 7 weeks through Australia and slept in 31 hotels. I will not bore you by describing all of them, I only post about a few outliers. We stayed in Airlie Beach for one night before going to the Whitsundays. We did not expect too much from the Airlie Beach Motor Lodge and were very pleasantly... More

Although it is not far up a steep hill, the car did notice the slope up to reception. It is 5 minutes’ easy walk from the strip of restaurants along the beachfront yet still far enough away to be quiet. We used the BBQ facility, a George Foreman style grill which was adequate for us. Everything we needed was supplied... More

Good location being walking distance to Airlie's centre. Definitely in need of a bit of updating. Basically clean but above head height i.e. fans, top of mirror very dusty. Also stained sofa (didn't sit on it). No complimentary shampoo, lotion etc. only soap. Free wifi could only be accessed near reception not in room. Happy with the deal we got... More

I highly recommend this accommodation. It fulfilled all our needs and was conveniently located near to the hub of Airlie activities but with just enough space away from all the action. Our unit was immaculate. Karen is a mine of information on local attractions so consult her before you firm your bookings up.

Good location just out of town, not too loud but not too far from everything. Big very clean room with all we really needed, however the implication of a 'kitchenette' was a bit of a stretch. Fridge, microwave, kettle & sink. Could do with a hob to really call it a cooking space. The room was perfectly fine & very... More

If you are looking for a clean affordable place with helpful staff, in a good location then look no further. We struggled at first as we are on a budget but are not backpackers and this suited us perfectly. Quiet at night but moments from the action. The staff are so friendly and helpful with booking trips.

Can't recommend this place enough, so helpful seeing as I was a solo traveller from recommendations for cheaper car hire websites (which saved me over $150!!!!) to recommendations for somewhere to eat away from the backpackers. Room was massive, nice little decked area and huge bed, fully equiped with fridge freezer, pots, plates and cutlery. About a 5 minute walk... More

I was in Airlie Beach for a few days' break. It being August, I didn't book ahead. This proved to be a bad idea: a big sailing event meant that most accommodation was booked out. Trip Advisor helped me find the Motor Lodge - and it had good reviews. For the most part the reviews were fair - I'd recommend... More

We stayed here on the night before our Reefsleep cruise. When I had initially tried to book the room, it said their suites will take 4 adults, but I go to the website and it will only let me book 2 adults & 2 kids (my kids are older and count as adults). I e-mail them and they say I... More
