My wife and I have spent a few days in late October at the Hotel Residence Playa Colibri. This was not a first experience since we had spent a week there five years ago. Our first surprise was that the residence looked even better than on our first stay. You could have expected that a hotel located next to the... more

PLAYA COLIBRI I have spent much time, in Las Terennes, with my wife kids, and guests. I have aways stayed at the Playa Colibri. It is the nicest looking hotel, with a beautiful courtyard, palm trees, and a pool. It is right on the beach, and a great family hotel, with great restaurant, and beech bar, and private parking. The apartments... more

We live in the area, and have called before to get rates for the hotel. We've also had friends stay at this hotel, so we knew the rates before coming. We did not book a room, since we decided on a last minute trip and it is not tourist season, so we knew there would be plently of availability. We... more

Las Terrenas can be a tricky spot to get to as our cab from Sosua (~$80-100) almost died. Good location just steps away from the ocean. There is a dirt road that runs along the ocean and it can be quite busy and noisy at times with ATV's going back and forth. Our room was further away from this road... more

We stayed 10 nights in the comfortable, beautifully designed and very clean hotel Playa Colibri and we had a wonderful time.. Everything is tastefully decorated in a Caraib style. Location is good and the staff was really friendly giving us details of what there was to see and restaurant suggestions, and ready to help us in any way. The apartments... more

First of all,Lets remember we are staying in the Carribean, and not Europe, the US, or even some cities in Asia! We are not in a high end tourist trap, Or a tourist trap at all for that matter. If you are looking for a "real vacation" for a real taste of local culture, In a beautifu island setting. Las... more

Date: 23rd March 2006 Reviewer: A Swiss Couple We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Playa Colibri Resort. We had a really nice apartment with a large balcony overlooking the beautiful garden with lots of tropical flowers, the fantastic pool and the sea. The apartment was cleaned every day. We did not want an all-incl. hotel and... more

The Hotel Colibri very much reflects its environment. It is friendly, it is casual and it is also just a bit rough around the edges. Now don't get me wrong, this is not a terrible place. But reading the rave reviews here after a recent stay in the Hotel compels me to offer my own opinion. For travelers either accustomed... more

We spent one night at Colibri then checked out because even though it is a nice friendly place, the road in front is extremely noisy with motorcycle traffic. I loved the pool though. We were sorry to check out but we wanted peace and quiet and it was not to be found on this busy road (contrary to some writings,... more
