My husband and I with another couple just returned from Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo on May 11, 2013. It was a wonderful, amazing, and relaxing stay. The people at the hotel were so humble, pleasant and caring (Valentin, Daniel, and the dining room staff and cooks to mention a few) were always ready to please. The ONLY thing I... More

Resort As Expected... The Dominican Republic is a magical country for me. My husband and I have spent many relaxing and exciting days and nights (total 65) while in Punta Cana, La Romana, and Puerto Plata. Desiring to experience more of the DR culture, beaches, and landscape, we decided on the Las Terrenas area, and the Grand Bahia Principe El... More

Stayed at this property in a standard room for three adults, they recommend a junior suite when there is more than two adults but this one worked well for us, the only thing that we noticed was that the air conditioning was cool but you need to leave the key inserted all the time including when leaving as the rooms... If you are looking for low-key and relaxing, this is where you want to be. The staff is excellent. Miladya, our concierge, made sure our every need was met and every question answered. (I tend to ask many random questions... plants - local customs.) If you have transportation needs, Martin is the go-to guy. Want a taxi to go shopping... More

Overall a wonderful holiday. Thank you to the MiniClub for the on-going entertainment and great attention to the children. Truly amazing both ladies! Thank you! Daniel for his everyday entertainment and upbeat personality which kept all spirits high throughout the week. The hotel offers many great amenities. Entertainment, relaxation and great food. El Pescador was amazing! Carlito in the bar... More

My husband and me spent ten nights in April in Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo. We love beach, walked a lot in both directions, sand is amazing. We love the food, both in buffet and restaurants (Gaspacho soup won my heart!). We stayed in Golden Club, room and service are very good. Activities are interesting, try an archery, and Spanish... I was there in the vibrant 2010 and went back last year (2012). The facility is deteriorated, staff looks tired, the beach water has visible signs of oil in it. I personally saw people washing cars and motorcycles in the small water falls and rivers close to the resort. Food quality has decreased drastically from 2010 to 2012. Not going... More

We really enjoyed our week at this family-friend resort. Traveling with our one year old, we found that the staff made everything easy, were always friendly, and went out of their way to be welcoming. The beach is lovely, with very gentle wave action appropriate for swimming with young kids. You can walk to the reef just offshore and have... More

Went with my boyfriend for 5 days in April. Overall we had a great time. The hotel is big, and very clean. The beach was beautiful, barely any waves. I loved the pool the most because the water in the pool was so warm it was such a pleasure to just be in the water all day. The hotel staff... More
