We came with my husband and five year old daughter for five nights and our expectations were surpassed. The owners and staff were just lovely. They went out of their way to help us with beach towels, local attractions, renting a four wheeler (so fun!). And the bungalows were so nice, with a small second floor balcony for the kids... More

We had 3 nights at La Tortuga, and enjoyed every minute. Although everything about the hotel is pretty outdated, it is still nice and clean. Breakfast is the same every day: Bread, jam, scramled eggs, fresh fruit, fresh juice and coffee. All that we needed :) About 500 meters away you find a street with colorful wooden houses, which are... More

Good value for money overall. Great location, very close to the beach and a lot of nice restaurants and still far enough from the centre to make it a very peaceful refuge. We were there during the Easter weekend and the centre of Las Terrenas was really hectic with a lot of very(!) loud music. We could only hear the... More

Hotel La Tortuga is a pleasant, competitively priced place just a 7 minute walk from the Pueblo de los Pescadores, where there are tons of international dining options right on the ocean. The downside is that the walk is dark and poorly lit at night and makes you feel like you need to watch your surroundings as a tourist, not... More

This was a very nice place, just a few minutes from the beach. Nice, quite atmosphere...a little paradise tucked away from the hustle/bustle of the main street. The food here is very good and even better drinks! The best rum punch I have had in the DR. If we go back to the DR and to Las Terrenas, we would... More

Stayed at La Tortuga for 4 nights at the beginning of March. Our hosts Maurizio & Isabel were very kind and informative. They speak several languages - English was not their best but Maurizio is better than he thinks and it was not an issue for us. We may have been the only English couple their during our 4 day... This was the third year in a row that Marie and I have spent with Maurizio and the crew at La Tortuga. Each time seems to better than the last. Two of the young women have moved on but Josephina is still running things, Maurizio will attest to this, and this yea she was joined by Maria and Wendy. Maria... More

My family just returned from Las Terranas and have only great things to say about Hotel La Tortuga. Maurizio, the owner, was very kind and always helpful. This hotel offers an authentic experience. The rooms/apartments are nestled in among beautiful trees and flowers. The hotel atmosphere is very peaceful. Staff were always willing to help quickly when asked (for pool... More

Myself and three of my good friends stayed at La Tortuga in early January and had a wonderful time. The apartment we stayed in was very nicely decorated and had fans, a safe, and a mini fridge, and it was the PERFECT distance to all of the attractions in LT. Pueblo de los Pescadores (area with lots of beach front... More

We planned our trip to the Dominican Republic for January 7-14, 2014. We booked a reservation with this place because of the location and the reviews they received. Due to the massive winter storm in the Eastern US, our flight was cancelled, with no way to make it to the Dominican Republic until three days after our scheduled arrival date.... More
