This lodge is named for the musum bird, one of the hundreds of fantastic avians that populate this lovely resort in the Pantanal. Caimans, crocodiles and capibara roam the grounds. In the morning the birds are your alarm clock. After an excellent buffet breakfast in the attractive dining room, you can hike, go horseback riding, fish, explore the area by... More

The Pantanel is a spectacular and unique environment and the lodge is in a beautiful setting by the water, in among the birds and animals with high quality accommodation, excellent food and attentive staff. On arrival at Cuiaba airport we were transferred to the lodge in a comfortable minibus. We stayed for 3 nights and took all the excursions by... More

A wonderful lodge in the Pantanal. Excellent staff. Lots of activities to see wildlife and beautiful land. Alicia, the owner, is a treasure. She has invested in the community and brought many opportunities to the local tribes and villages. WiFi in the reception room / map room area.

If you are looking for insect free luxury, opulance and indulgence, them give this place a miss. We were not, we wanted a comfortable place in the Pantanel, ecofriendly and and wildlife obessed, this ticked all the boxes. The transfer should have taken 3.5 hours, instead it took over four hours, the driver stopping frequently to point out the ombundance... More

Most definitely going into the unknown our expectations were mixed. From being met at the airport by Flavy (guide) it became evident of the sincerity and warmness of all of the staff. This charm continued throughout our time here and all of our needs were met and exceeded. We would of stayed longer and will probably return at some point... More

We stayed for three days and had a great time. The rooms were beautiful, the guide Flavio was very knowledgeable and friendly and the wildlife was superb. Especially enjoyable we're the nighttime rides on the water where you could see the red eyes of the caymans and the stars were incredible with no ambient light. The buffet meals were very... More

We stayed in 3 countryside lodges on our trip - Yacutinga Lodge in Argentina, Anavilhanas Lodge in the Amazon and the Pousada do Rio Mutum which was by far the best. It wasn't busy on our visit (at a time when the water should have been much higher and so an off-peak time) with only one other couple staying -... More

Cannot say enough good things about Pousada Rio Mutum and their wonderful staff. The rooms are spotless and beds very comfy. The all-inclusive buffet is superb with a massive choice of foods. The home-baked breads were a highlight and a wide variety of fruit and veg was a welcome sight after months of unhealthy food across South America. The activities... More

The Pousada do Rio Mutum is a home away from home for the true nature lover. It provides the simple comforts of life and a place to relax in between bird and butterfly watching, fishing for piranha, exploring rivers and lakes and wondering at the sheer richness of nature. Considering everything has had to be brought in to construct and... More

The Pantanal is beautiful. You must go!! This place ticks lots of boxes but doesn't do much else. It lacks soul or life or something. Room all air conditioned up and clean, bathroom shiny and water hot, although the arrangement of the bungalows is a bit weird, all equally spaced out in a regimented format. Food - perfectly edible, but... More
