We live in the south of Brasil and went to The Pantanal for a well-earned two week holiday. The Pousada do Rio Mutum was recommended by a friend who works in tourism. From our first point of contact when we booked our accommodation and organised the logistics of getting from the airport in Cuiabá to the pousada, and payment etc.... More

Set on beautifully maintained allotment right on the edge of the pantanal, the lodge accommodation was very comfortable, food was varied across the 3 days we stayed, guides were friendly and activities fun - highlight: piranha fishing!.highly recommend this lodge.only downside was no jaguars were spotted - best bet is to stay at a camp a few more hours inland... We were picked up in a mini bus from Cuiaba and joined others heading out to the lodge. The trip takes about 2-3 hours with most of the road paved, but the last 40 minutes is on rough dirt which in the wet is not able to be used and you are transferred by boat. Lucky for us we could... More

I had Cabin #3 which was comfortable. It had a wall air-conditioner that worked pretty well in spite of there being no glass in the windows, only screens.   Be sure to close the shutters if you use the air-conditioner.    The shower had only one working knob, and the water that came out was a comfortable temperature.  You can... Have just got back from 4 nights at this wonderful property in the pantanal. Although we did not see any otters, anteaters etc, it was the wrong season, none of it mattered as you go to a place like this to appreciate nature up close. Firstly, the birding was spectacular, too many to list but my favourites were toucans, parrots,... More

On a tour we spent hours on the plane and then by bus and boat to this location, to be rewarded by great food, and lovely location. The rooms are clean, well air conditioned and the beds comfortable. This being the rainy season we went off by horse back through water covered roads. Horses tame, well behaved. This Pantanal area... More

We had Zeine as our guide: a very energetic and interesting woman who contributed greatly to our stay. Unfortunately there was not a lot to see animal-wise but the horse outing and boat trips were enjoyable. Food was plentiful and drinks were reasonable 4 reals for beer 50 for wine & 2 for water.

We were able to access the lodge by road in 2.5 hours from Cuiaba. The last few miles of the "road" is a dirt road, which in the wet season becomes impassable, with access to the lodge only by boat. As a result the location, feels like the middle of nowhere, which we found very relaxing. The staff were very... More
