If you want to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta you have to stay on this Voyages property. While there are several hotels, they are all at the same Voyages resort. Because this is the only place to stay the rooms are ridiculously over priced. Actually, everything is over priced including the food, tours and transportation. This is not a bad... more

We stayed in a standard en suite room for three nights will visiting Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in June 2009. We paid $220/night and were horrified when we first starting looking at prices for Yulara. As usual, people told us to camp, but I'm not a camper nor do we have any camping equipment so that would have been a... more

My wife and I stayed at the Outback for 1 night as part of our long Australian honeymoon. What can I say, when you are out in Ayers Rock the choices for accomodations are few. We figured to go modestly as it was only one night. After checking in we arrived at our room to find two sets of bunk... more

Ok its the outback and you don't expect luxury! But you don't expect dreadfull either. We are a couple and booked double accomodation with private facilites. We got a room with four bunk beds, concrete floor, dark noisy shall I go on? It was like an army barracks I went to reception to ask for a double room and got... more

When visiting Central Australia, you don't expect the comfort of a big city and you are willing to put up with the basics if necessary. After all, it is the outback. However, if you are reasonable enough to accept a barrack room with four bunk beds, no television, no heating (nights are cold in the desert), concrete walls and tile... more

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel in March 2009 as part of a package tour of New Zealand and Australia, so cannot comment on the room cost but can make observations on the facilities etc and compare it to all the other 'same-standard' 3* or so hotels I stayed in. The hotel is a sprawling collection of single-storey accommodation... more

First I have to say is that me and my partner was "upgraded" from the perm. tent of the Voyagers camp ground to the Outback Pioneer hotel because the perm. tents was unservicable, as a result two of use have a four person dorm all to ourselves at the same cost, which is better than the perm tents because you... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in April and if you are looking for a good nights sleep to get up early for the sunrise then don’t stay here. The bar is outdoors and plays live music, most rooms are close to the bar area (within hearing distance) especially the 500 room numbers. It got to 10pm and we thought... more

We had a top spec room - we knew this 'cause it had carpet, normal rooms don't!! Walls were painted blocks - no plaster, furniture was minimal. Food was BBQ or greasey. Our travel agent had this as 3+Star - no way! Only stay here if you really cannot stretch to better. more

Apr 23, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I travelled to Uluru for the first time with a friend who was visiting from the UK. Chose the Outback hotel to stay in - 3 night package. I initially chose only 2 nights but saw a better deal for 3 nights and 3 nights was the right amount of time. The hotel room was very suitable, comfortable clean, very... more
