I want to start off by saying that I was hesitant going to Riu Guanacaste after reading a few of the negative reviews on here. I imagine many of you are in the same boat. Here is a quick summary: Food: This is an all inclusive resort- not a five star restaurant. Remember that. With that being said; however the... More

Loved the hotel, it was gorgeous and the rooms were nice. Food was great, I liked how each night the buffet had a different theme and we had no issues when trying to book reservations with the A la cartes. I also loved how they had a daily buffet by the pool, YUM!! The pool and grounds were kept very... More

I would not have believed I would return to a hotel I've already been to but the riu guanacaste is one which I would return for a third time 😋 Second time there and, once again, everything was as I remembered....wonderful! The food is ever changing, hot and good and the cappuccinos, using Costa rican coffee, are amazing....don't forget to... More

I'm a little late writing this review but I wanted to convey my thoughts on this great hotel. Like others I wondered upon booking the trip if there would be some unwanted surprises based on some of the negative reviews. All I can say is that this place is awesome! My wife and I visited Costa Rica February 22-March 1st... More

We just came back from 2 weeks vacation in Riu Guanacaste (Nov 26 - Dec 10, 2014). Lovely hotel, clean, great food most of the days (sometimes fish was too dry). Fantastic beach with dark sand and perfect weather. We went on two trips organized by Cesar Adventure Tour (very honest and professional). The first one - Miravalles Volcano- included... More

Pro's: very beautiful hotel. Good food/drinks. Extremely nice staff. Good price. Decorated beautifully for xmas. Cons: pool needs more stairs. Maid service is inconsistent. Bed is as hard at a rock. Not enough pillows. A lot of bugs in room. No night life. 100s of loud wild locals on the weekends. Barely anything in minibar. No room service? If there... More

We just returned from Riu Guanacaste, which is the 6th all-inclusive resort we've stayed in. The rooms were clean, food was ok and the beach area was beautiful. We found the guests to be very friendly, and really enjoyed meeting new people. The service was not as attentive as we've experienced at other all-inclusive resorts. For example, we did not... More

Our trip was a Monday to Monday and the first part of the week was great. The hotel, pool and grounds were very clean, tidy, well-maintained but we, like one of the other reviewers, were awoken every morning around 3:00 by a very loud grounds keeping machine of some sort. Service was excellent at all levels. Excursions were awesome, again... More

If you are not a huge beach lover (I am) you can go here. The beach was not impressive and I only went to it once during my stay. The pool however, was incredible. It was huge and had a nice sized swim up bar. The hotel grounds are very nice but I was not impressed with the room. Although... More

Riu Palace Guancaste was just wonderful! Went last week of Nov 2014 with our three children. Ages 13, 10 and 9. Hotel was very clean and food was very good. We had a family suite which was perfect. Two big rooms, two bathrooms and a hallway that was in between. No connecting doors to worry about but the bedrooms had... More
