We went for our honeymoon and were very disappointing. We were told the resort was new and shown pictures in our searches and by our agent of the white newer Riu Palace which is next door to the Riu Guanacaste. We felt like a number in a machine. The accommodating were the worst out of all our stays in Costa... More

Great service and really nice people. The restaurants were really good and enough choices for the family . Pool was awesome and always nice and cool. The bars are pretty quick with the drinks. Beach was a lil rough when in water

I had read a number of reviews about this hotel/resort but they were so polar opposites that I decided I ultimately had to judge for myself (like everyone probably should). I traveled with my husband and 2 sons (23 & 25 years old). We had 2 standard rooms on separate floors. We aren't "foodies" or have really high standards for... More

Had an amazing time at this resort. Spent only 4 days unfortunately, the grounds are HUGE and the maintenance is incredible, this looks like a fairly new hotel. Pool is fantastic, the crew that work there are so friendly and fun. The entertainment at the theater is so fun! We went every night and it was great, my favorite was... More

Our stay at the hotel was a fantastic week. We were never short of anything to do and its a very social atmosphere. However we made the mistake of using the day spa, what a rip off - don't go there. When we saw the prices we expected a premium experience. Instead we got inexperienced massage therapists that didn't seem... More

As you are driving from the airport you kind of wonder if you are going the right way. Mainly because the hotel was located between mountains where there is no reception, which is a great thing. To say the least the food was amazing, including the buffet. But just so you know, if you want to eat at the Italian... More

It was a pleasant place but too many kids for a late fall vacation. It wasn't bad but my spouse was put off by all the kids. Seemed to be mostly locals and it didn't bother me but she caught the flu and thinks it was kids at the buffet or pool. Who knows. I got the same bug back... More

I visited Costa Rica for the first time in summer 2012, and stayed at this resort with family. It was so amazing that I decided to come back with my boyfriend and another couple who had never been to Costa Rica nor an all-inclusive resort. Overall I feel this was a fun vacation, however I am a little disappointed with... More

I enjoyed my time at the Hotel Riu, but 6 nights is way to long. I would do this place again with family. Pros - Food and drinks is included in the price. - Day time activities we're fun ( volleyball, basketball, etc.. ) - 24 hours sports bar. - Book tours right in the lobby or beach. - Beautiful... NEVER EVER WILL RETURN Don't get me wrong Costa Rica is a beautiful place and that's not the problem, it's everything else and most of it has to do with the name RIU. I am whole heartedly warning you to stay away from this hotel. First of all, the minute you request something from room service or be it management... More
