We stayed in Fairhall for 2 nights in February 2007 as part of our trip around NZ. It’s ideally located close to Napier and the surrounding Hawke’s Bay, famous for it’s wine. If you are a wine lover, this is certainly the place to stay as the host Steve is extremely knowledgeable, in fact each of the 3 rooms is named after a different Hawke’s Bay winery – though it’s by no means unsuitable for people who don’t like wine – it’s a lovely place to stay.
We arrived via the town of Clive, and found Fairhall on a very sharp corner just outside town. It’s a fairly precarious blind corner for on coming traffic – suggestion to Steve is to get the hedge trimmers out! Upon turning in we were greeted by a very welcoming Steve, who showed us around and settled us in. The rooms are located in their own cottage style building a little away from Steve and Jackie’s house, the gardens are really well kept and the accomodation simple but really nice.
