Absolutely stunning location in the Hawkes Bay region of NZ. Immaculately presented rooms, outstanding service and hospitality. Overall, a delightful experience with fabulous hosts. The tranquility and beauty of the property were such a delight and provided a retreat to "get away from it all".

We spent four wonderful nights at Hawthorne House, eating, relaxing, cycling, and wine tasting. Sampling the best of Hawkes Bay, and Hawthorne House definitely fits into that category. Nothing was too much trouble for Debbie and Paul, from a beautiful fresh breakfast that set us up for the day through to organising any bookings. And yes, the rooms are exquisite!

What should've been a lovely drive form Rotorua was made not so by awful weather - mist, fog, driving rain and drizzle. What a joy to find Hawthorne House and our wonderful hosts Paul and Debbie. The house is gorgeous, we did not want to leave - in fact we bought some salad and things from Debbie's recommended supermarket and... More

From the moment we arrived at this beautiful house, we were treated as valued guests in Debbie and Paul's home. They quite simply could not have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I can mention the tea and cake on arrival, the drinks and delicious nibbles on the veranda, the breakfasts which were second to none, the... More

We stayed for two nights and wished it had been longer as we had such a lovely relaxing time here. The house is full of character and charm, the rooms are comfortable, with refurbished modern ensuite shower rooms. The cottage gardens are beautiful and we had a lovely little decked area to sit out on, although guests are welcome to... More

We’ve spent a glorious month travelling boutique in NZ, unbelievable hospitality, well worth the expense. Hawthorne House was up with the best, but what made it particularly outstanding were the lengths Debbie and Paul would go to in order to make our stay truly special. This even went as far as driving miles to the nearest fish and chip shop... More

We arrived about 5.00 and were warmly welcomed by Debbie and Paul. As we were their only guests they very kindly upgraded us to their largest room which had a beautiful bed in it and very soft towels in the en-suite bathroom. Tea and cake was served on the decking and we were offered wine and nibbles at 6.00 but... More

If you want a lovely place to stay, with amiable, generous, knowledge, happy hosts in an historic house on an historic property in the middle of the wine and agricultural district of Hawke's Bay ......... Well stop looking! You have found it at Hawthorne House. Paul and Debbie are joyously happy to be nesting in their new ownership and it... More

We have stayed at the house 4 times with 3 owners and have found it consistently excellent, so much so that we have just booked our 5th visit and cannot wait to see the miniature poodle after its recent haircut. Breakfasts are great as are the sun downers

Hawthorne is a lovely Victorian house with four very comfortable guest rooms each with its own terrace. The bathrooms are modern and well equipped. The grounds are spacious with beautiful plantings. There are two very friendly black poodles in residence. The highlight of our visit was Deb and Paul who made us feel like old friends. We arrived at 2... More
